"You would make a good Dalek."
Heh. Heheehheheh heh.
I don't even know the backstory of these guys v. the Doctor and I am digging the angst here.
"What use are emo--"
No, they wouldn't...
"--tions if you--"
They're not gonna go there...
"--can't save--"
OH MY GOD THEY'RE GONNA GO THERE!
"--the woman you love?"
::rolling in chair, laughing ass off::
I don't know if its the cheesiness of that line, the shippiness of that line, or the fact that I can't remember where I've heard that before, [see comments] but I am cracking up. I LOVE THIS SHOW.
As was said in
doyle_sb4's journal comments:
"Even the dalek is a shipper."
"Because he downloaded the whole internet, didn't he?"
"He's probably a Spuffy shipper too."
"What about you doctor? What the hell are you changing into?"
ROSE I LOVE YOU. BE MY NEW TV GIRLFRIEND.
...Ooh. Cool death.
"Rose, he's a bit pretty." Is that a gay joke?
"I hadn't noticed." Right, sure.
Well, I shouldn't be surprised that as soon as the show goes Rose/Doctor shippy it also introduces the new most-likely-to-be-slashed character. Who is also kinda flirty with Rose. Curses! No! Don't interefere with my OTP!

It amazes me how much heart and soul Eccleston puts into it -- he was emoting at a plastic eye-stock attached to a pepperpot! He gives it his all, and that really helps to sell it, even the silly stuff. How cool. Billie isn't half bad, either.

Isn't it wonderful? They're just so free with lines that could very well sound amazingingly ridiculous ("I could *save the world*, but loose you"). If they hadn't cut the hug-scene, I think I would have literally bounced out of my chair.

Bet he didn't leave any reviews, though. 'Cos he's evil.
"What about you doctor? What the hell are you changing into?"
ROSE I LOVE YOU. BE MY NEW TV GIRLFRIEND.
Goodness, yes. That line hit me like whoa!

He's such an assy little bore, too, isn't he? When he was insulting Rose's intelligence, I kept thinking, "this is time that could be used for Doctor/Rose banter! Stop using up screen time, you silly little man!"

Date: 2005-05-02 05:48 am (UTC)I know. This one actually sounded a bit cheesier than the one from WW3 (not that I love it any less-- it seriously made me giggle though), and I could swear I've heard it before. "What use are___ if you couldn't even save one little girl." Or something. Maybe it's from FMA? Or another movie. It sounds so familiar though.
I thought Eccleston and Billie were great in this episode. He really showed a wide range of emotions, and they all seemed very tangible. From surprise to fear to glee to smugness to anger to hurt to anger to fear again. And she did a good job of looking believably scared but brave, with some nice subtle touches.

It niggled in the back of my head again. It's niggled ever since I saw the episode, two years ago, and tonight I thought, and concentrated, and GOT IT.
It reminded me of a line from The Last Unicorn, near the very end of the movie.
Molly Grue: Then what is magic for? What is the use of wizardry, if it cannot even save a unicorn?
Whew! So happy to have solved that annoying little mystery.

Date: 2008-07-12 12:51 am (UTC)But then if you look at it from the point of view of the Dalek being a shipper, it totally makes sense. Assuming things about their relationship from only happening to have seen them standing near each other and knowing they're travel partners who care whether each other lives or dies....CLEARLY THEY MUST BE IN LOVE, RIGHT? That's ship logic right there. I approve.
And the Doctor, of course, glosses over the whole thing.
