Doctor Who 4x06 - "The Doctor's Daughter"
Jun. 22nd, 2008 04:23 pmI liked it. Quite a bit. The last "surprise" was pretty hokey and made, like, no sense in the mythos of the show itself, but hey! I love a good happy ending and this one was a nice set-up for future adventures.
So far, this season is way better than season 3. I might even like it more than season 2. No dud episodes, decent to great acting, fun all around. Huzzah! Let's hope it keeps up.
And I know it's probably a terrifying thought to stuffy old-school Whofans and people who hate Original Characters and Mary Sues and all that... but, seriously, in my head I can imagine all these wacky adventures of the little NotQuiteTimeLord running around rescuing civilizations and doing dangerous miraculous things, flitting about like an energizer bunny on steroids. She would be so fun and so active that it'd be downright alien. Plus, given her military-minded education, she could have all sorts of comic misunderstandings when it comes to finer details of social interaction. And she could have, like, a little alien monkey sidekick. Because a) monkeys are always funny, and b) monkeys are flexible and creative and manic and curious. Except this would be an alien monkey, so it'd probably have three tails or something, and look "fugly cute".
And then whole crazy fun adventures would take on a decidedly Farscapian whackiness.
Of course, I don't really want to watch a tv spin-off about that. I don't even think I want to read fic about it. But that's the canon in my head for Jenny's future. My brain can perfectly imagine all those things happening just off-screen.
ETA: "The Unicorn & The Wasp" - Wish there had been an actual unicorn, but otherwise: awesome!

Date: 2008-06-23 12:54 am (UTC)Agatha Christie was SUPER. She totally smacked down Ten when he started to act like people's lives and deaths in the past were some sort of fun carnival ride.
TWG MS. CHRISTIE.
You're right about the unicorn: there really needs to be one (done well!) in a Who ep. There were some in the Doctor Who novel I'm reading right now, and they worked into the Whoverse nicely.
