One thing I enjoyed to an almost embarassing extent about that episode was the Sokka/Zuko friendship. It's something I've secretly hoped for since sometime in season 2, I think. When I started writing The Night Has Come To Hold Us Young, I made a point to set up Sokka and Zuko to be friends. They're friends before Katara's presence even factors in Zuko's life, and when, in the middle of the drabble series, the water tribe siblings leave the Fire Nation to return to the Water Tribe, Zuko is equallly upset to lose Sokka as Katara, because of the friendship they built.
When I saw "The Boiling Rock" I adored seeing the interaction between the two characters; they play off each other well and I feel like both boys could use a "brother" type who is their peer in age and abilities. Sokka's never had one,* and obviously Zuko hasn't either. It was pretty cool to watch them together, coming up with plans and switching out the role of "the man with the plan" and "the spontaneous guy".
*I would say Haru could count since he did join the group, but given that he's had no dialogue in four episodes, I'm not going to assume he and Sokka are BFFs just because of proximity.
