After generously sitting through 16 episodes...
Saiyuki, I'm afraid that you and I are finished. There is no more us.
Frankly, you're boring and I don't like you.
Your angst means nothing to me because your characters mean nothing to me. I don't care what happens to them, even the cute one. And furthermore said characters would have about half as much as angst as they have if they would just stop doing really stupid things.
Your art is negligible, and keeps changing around. Your character designs have pretty clothing but awkwardly drawn faces. On top of that, your writing is bad nine times out of ten and the dialogue is at best mildly entertaining, at worst boring and headdeskingly dumb.
I also have to say it was a mistake to ever compare you to Fushigi Yuugi. That was a horrible error and I take it back. Fushigi Yuugi would corner you in a dark valley and molest you until you cried for the phoenix god, and then it would leave you whimpering and alone in the darkness.
I ask myself: Self, why are you watching this show again? And I answer: It was on Netflix. But you know what else is on Netflix, self? Lupin III is on Netflix.
And after that, there's really nothing else to say.

Contrast that to Naruto, or Full Metal Alchemist, or Trigun, or Gundam Wing, or Blue Seed, or even--bad as it was in retrospect-- Sailor Moon ... well, they all got to me in some form or another from episode 1.
