Super Spoilers for, like, a ton of fandoms: (Doctor Who, Farscape, Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, How I Met Your Mother, etc.)
10. Haruhi/Kyon in #6/#14 of Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (I like 'the world is ending around us' kisses, and this is one of the better ones.)
9. Mason/George in Dead Like Me's "Last Call" ("My god, I give a shit.")
8. Mulder/Scully in X Files: Fight The Future (the kiss that wasn't was still sexy as all hell. fucking bee! Note: link goes to 2008 movie spoiler clip, which I haven't seen.) *would have been higher if they actually kissed.*
7. Mulder/Scully in "Triangle" because stuck in the Bermuda Triangle stuck in 1939 is the best place to make out! and here, have a juicy deleted kiss from Memento Mori.
6. Barney/Robin in "Sandcastles in the Sand" of How I Met Your Mother (I waited three seasons for this kiss, and they know their audience well indeed.)
5. John/Aeryn in "Bad Timing" Farscape finale. ( one of the most telling and real of their relationship. Also, worst way to end a show ever.)
4. Nine/Rose in DW "The Parting of the Ways" (Best magical kiss ever.)
3. Veronica/Logan in "Weapons of Class Destruction" of Veronica Mars (pretty close to tv drama perfection. Acting! Swooping camera! Music.)
2. Ten/Rose in DW "Journey's End" (Best and worst spoilery video ever. For some reason this vid version has random music over the dialogue.)
1. Buffy/Spike in "Tabula Rasa" (I loved OMWF, but this trumped it.)
10. Haruhi/Kyon in #6/#14 of Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (I like 'the world is ending around us' kisses, and this is one of the better ones.)

Date: 2008-09-30 07:08 am (UTC)While I put the DW kiss as "higher" tha V/L, I did so because of the emotional payoff of the Doctor/Rose kiss... I was so wound up in their fate that of course I was going to love seeing them kiss. I loved it as a fan. It's also one that you can argue or debate about in terms of meaning... there's nothing to debate about the Veronica/Logan kiss. It's just a perfect tv moment. And I loved it as a viewer as much or more than as a fan, if that distinction means anything to anyone who's not me.
It's for the same reason that I picked the Buffy/Spike kiss from Tabula Rasa as my number one choice... I'd already seen a big curtain-closing first kiss between those two characters, as well as a shirtless dream-kiss, a chasted forgiveness-kiss, AND a spell-induced make-out session. But I liked that one for how it was shot, and where it came in the episode and at the end of the music montage, with the continuous, uninterrupted tracking shot leading into it.
For lists like this, it's as much what I appreciate as a fan of film and tv as it is what I excited about as a fan.

Yay for a Sailor Moon reference! My personal favourite is from one of the movies. Er, the rose one. I think he brings her back to life on a piece of rock flying though space (AND she's naked).

Date: 2008-10-13 06:50 am (UTC)I am over the moon about a potential season 3 of FMA. Like, my life has 3 benchmarks:
1- the election
2- season 3 of FMA
3- The Hobbit movie
kids, family, career...all come sometime after those three in importance.
#2 and #3 are interchangeable
punctuality is relative!
Date: 2008-10-14 01:37 am (UTC)Kids? Wait, do you mean babysitting or that you... have kids? O_o
Okay, I've done some seeerious contemplation on what on earth season 3 could be about (by which I mean I squee-ed a lot on blogs) but when I talked it over with my anime-fan English teacher, he said that he read an interview that said the movie was originally planned to be a season long, which would explain how rushed it felt. He hopes that they ret-con the movie, since continuing it would mean a World War II perspective, but I disagree because the movie ending was phenomenal and I loved it. :(
BUT OMG! MORE FMA! By the same creators, I hope, and the same gigantic collective genius brain! Ahhh, you're right; this, the election, Otoyome-Gatari, and the fried banana with ice cream I'm promised next week are the highlights of my life so far.
OH! Those and the new manga series by Kaoru Mori (creator of Emma) that comes out October 14th, i.e. tomorrow! Main character? Adult nomad woman skilled in archery and horseback riding. Setting? Silk Road across Asia. The new thing Mori wants to include now? Cavalry battles. The token weirdness? Main character is married to a 12-year-old Asian princeling. Anything else? CAVALRY BATTLES.
