Someone talk to me about 'Heroes'

I need to converse with other people about the weirdness of this season.
1. What, exactly, is going on with Peter's power vs. PapaPetrelli's power vs. Sylar's power? Why did Peter need Sylar's ability in the first place, when he had the BETTER upgrade of the ability right off the bat?
2. What is up with Peter and Claire? I am getting mixed messages from the show. The series tells us they are uncle/niece, but the writers seem to go out of their way to make borderline insinuating moments between them. It's like watching Rogue and Wolverine from the X-Men movies...I have to wonder if it's coincidence, if it's the fact that the actors are dating IRL, or if it's the way they're being directed to play the scenes they share together.
3. It looks like the abilities of people are being more overtly proved to pass along family lines (ex: the pyrokinetics, the Petrellis), so I'm still waiting for the show to "conveniently" ret-con that Claire isn't actually a Petrelli child at all, but is the spawn of Adam, who had the exact same power. And is also blond. Besides this making way more sense than her being Nathan's daughter in the first place, this would neatly fix Issue #2 as well. At least, it'd be less icky.
4. I hate this show for taking the prettiest person on the cast, Mohinder, and making him both spider-goo-gross and unrecognizable as the same personality from season 1.

Date: 2008-11-22 12:31 am (UTC)1. That said, this season is completely ridiculous. So, Peter needed Sylar's ability for some convoluted reason (and, I get it, Sylar's ability is to see how things work, which Peter needs so that he can save the world, which is of course something that I guess only he can do?), and he has to go forward in time to get it, so that we can see the future, or something. HOW DOES PETER NOT ALREADY HAVE SYLAR'S ABILITY? He got Claire's, Ted's, presumably Angela's, and I think Matt's without even knowing what those powers were until he started exhibiting them, and that's just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. And it doesn't even make sense to me that he would have picked up Sylar's other powers (telekinesis, specifically) during their other meetings, which aren't really powers Sylar has so much as they are skills he's learned without involuntarily picking up the ability to see how things work.
2. "I need you to stay...innocent." wHaT
Seriously, I really thought they were totally about to start making out right there. I actually wondered why they weren't, and then I remembered that there was some reason why they probably wouldn't, and then I was all, "Oh yeah! They're supposed to be related!"
3. That's a Wild Mass Guessing theory on TV Tropes...or maybe it's a Just Bugs Me...anyway, I'm not terribly invested in it, but I'd be okay with it. Except for the part where that would be Peter and Claire's cue to start making out. Awkward!
4. AHAHA in the future episode I was all, "NOOOOO! HIS BEAUTIFUL FACE!" But I do so love singing "Spider-Mo, Spider-Mo/Goes wherever a spider goes" whenever he comes onscreen. Maybe that's why my mom doesn't come over to watch it with me anymore.

Date: 2008-11-23 04:36 am (UTC)It'd be more compelling if he was like "Yeah, I used to be crazy. Now I'm not. Nope, it's no one's fault but my own, because at the time I knew right from wrong but I just didn't care. Are you going to eat that hot dog? Thanks. Yeah--" :munch: "--I'm better now. I read some books."
The way they've spent this season making excuses for his evilness of season 1 and 2 as "they did this to me as a child" and "it's the hunger, it's not me" is way too Uchiha for my tastes.
2. I KNOW! That scene was so... and then he was like "You're still becoming this woman..." ...oh, really, Peter? Noticed those biological upgrades, did you?
3. I don't know what Wild Mass Guessing Theory is...or what that has to do with TV Tropes (the reference/glossary site?) but I do like the image of them starting to make out once they get the news--- if one minute later Nathan walks into the room, *before* anyone tells *him*.
4. It's hard out there for the most beautiful dude on television. First he was told he'd be a wimpy scientist instead of a Bad Ass Crime-Fighting Indian Ninja like his agent promised, and now they're making him walk around with gooey puss coming out of body places he's pretty sure the make-up department doesn't actually NEED to be applying make-up to.
