Wow.

Wow.

Anyone on my friends list who's seen Princess Tutu, that most fabulously meta and literary of animes, YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS MUSIC VIDEO.

It's 4 down from the top of the page, labeled "Hold Me Now". The song is in some kind of foreign language (German?---I looked it up. Swedish.), and...guh. It's not only the best PT video I've seen (there's very few), but it's one of the best videos I've seen period when it comes to timing/transition of character movement across the screen. The anime is about dance, the story is about dance, and this video is a dance. A crazy, dark, sordid dance that crosses pairings and characters and captures everything I loved so much about PT. Also? Spoilery like hell.

The site says it won "Best Action" and "Best in Show" at Anime Boston 2006 and "Best Free Form" at Fanime 2006. If I'd still lived in San Jose and gone to Fanime, I'd've voted for it.

[livejournal.com profile] donna_c_punk, if you've decided never to finish PT, watch this video. If there's even the tiniest sliver of hope in your heart that you might continue it later, then ignore this and when you've finished the show I'll find the link for you again.

EDIT: I watched it again. I still love it so much. And I'm amazed that anyone managed to make an award-winning action video out of Princess Tutu, which, while dark, is not usually what I'd call "action". "Interpretive Action" maybe. ;)

What's with the PT all of a sudden? [livejournal.com profile] sir_hellsing finished the series yesterday. She and I talked about it. A little. Since I only saw about three or four episodes.

PT never really left my LJ space. Like BTVS, it's always in the background. Hovering. Because I love it so.

I'll seriously upload all the episodes if you want to watch them. I will. PT is special and weird and meta and...I'll stop now. But you can imagine the list continuing in my head, because it is.

While I'm willing to give the series another chance, I wouldn't want you to go through the trouble when I have no clue as to when I'd watch them. I have a HUGE backlog of anime already. :/

Well, if you wanna email me your mailing address I can send you a DVD. I happen to have made an extra backup DVD of the fansub (I've seen the first 5 episodes of the dub on DVD, and they're highly amusing, in a good way) when I thought I was going to give it to someone else, but never did.

That sounds good. Danke!

IIRC, I have four whole series' I need to watch. Need to catch up with the episodes on .... three. I'm content to wait until Noein and Jigoku Shoujo are completed as fansubs, though. I get so lost whenever I watch Noein then wait three weeks for a new ep.

Wow, that was one hell of an AMV. I've really got nothing more to say, which generally means I loved it.

God, I have to watch Princess Tutu again. It touched my brain and heart in all the right places.

I went and found it on amv.org and moved it to #3/100 of my most favorite videos, behind Ninja of the Night and a CB vid to "Bed of Lies". I also left an opinion review, which I rarely do for vids.

WOW! Just WOW!

Oh, now I'll have to watch Tutu all over again, too! And I have so much else I should be watching!

I don't think that's German, though...

I looked it up. Swedish.

I've watched the video 5 times now. Still adore it. And it does make me want to rewatch the show.
