I have 2 free passes to see Coraline this weekend in 2D, in a theater about 6 miles from my house.

The closest theater to play it in 3D is 25 miles from my house, and will not let me in for free.

I CAN'T DECIDE.

I saw it 3D, and it didn't seem to make a great deal of difference. ^^;

Do you mean that the 3D was very limited amount and didn't particularly stand out? I've only ever seen half-hour 3D shows, like I saw Shrek's 3D adventure in Universal Studios. I've never seen a full-length 3D movie.

Yeah. I really didn't notice the 3D-ness of it all. The reviews rave about the 3D. . .but it felt to me like I might as well have seen it in 2D.

That's depressing.

See it in 2d. I've always found 3-d movies to be more distracting than enjoyable.

I saw it in 2D first and still adored it. Go for free! Treat yourself to 3D later! Seeing it in 2D AFTER 3D first will be more disappointing than the other way around.

I'm beginning to think so. It's far away...and I'd have to pay for it... I might as well see it for free closer. If I love it, I'll go see it in 3D later, I suppose. This also depends on my dad, who was going to see it with me this weekend, and whether he wants to see it in 3D or not. But he was mostly going because *I* was excited and telling him how cool it could be in 3D, so it feels weird to settle after all that work convincing him 3D was going to be better.

And on top of that, he's really busy so I might end up seeing it by myself this weekend in 2D, since my nearest friend (in location) can't get out to movie theaters with a young baby.

Did you see it in both? What was the difference?

The 3D is beautiful, and you can totally see the depth of the sets used, but hey, you have free passes, you should use them! The movie definitely holds up without the 3D.

By the way, I'm really not that bad of a stalker, I just followed you from Avatar and Big Bang Theory and rather like your posts in between.

Saw it in 2D and it's definitely good that way.

...I literally just saw it in 3D tonight and I cannot imagine recommending anything else.

Hmm... damn, that takes me back to square one!

Since I can go for free, we've already decided to go to the 2D version tomorrow. If I love it though I might shell out for the 3D version later this week (before Watchmen kicks it out of the limited number of theaters with a digital projector)
