a phone conversation I had last night

Brother: "I'm gonna start watching Dexter's Lab."

Rashaka: "Um...are you sure you mean Dexter's Lab? I only ask because Dexter's Laboratory is a cartoon on the Cartoon Network."

Brother: "Whatever. It's about a serial killer."

Rashaka: "That'd be just Dexter. Because Dexter's Laboratory is about a wacky kid scientist...Admittedly they're both sociopaths."

Brother: "What?"

Rashaka: "Nothing, have fun with Dexter! Good show. So I hear. Um."

Admittedly, it's because of Dexter's Lab that I can't take Dexter seriously. I just think of the cartoon every time I see something about the show.

Heeee! Oh, dear. Now my brain is making comparisons between cartoon!Dexter's lab outfit and relationship with his sister Dee Dee and serialkillerofserialkillers!Dexter's plastic lab gear and relationship with Debra. There are eerie similarities!

From what I remember of the cartoon, Lil Dexter was practically his own antagonist, and a maniac. So the name connection made me giggle too... I'd never thought of it until that phone conversation.
