George: "Yeah, I'm pretty sure everyone can do that."

I really wish the vampire leader on this show was Nikola Tesla from Sanctuary instead of the actual character they have here. Tesla, btw, is also about the closest thing I can imagine to what HIMYM's Barney Stinson would be like as a vampire. You know, plus about 80 years of life experience and a healthy loss of morality. And Magnus is totally his Robin. Tesla would have made this entire vampire clan about six times more fun.

Mitchell: *whine whine whine*
Tesla: You're so right! *EATS HIM* ...Ew, bit of heartburn.


ETA: Someone tell me I'm not the only viewer who thinks Owen looks like a live-action Aladdin.

Uh, Owen is totally Aladdin. I remember sitting there going 'this dude reminds me of someone' and then like one episode later I was like OMG. HE'S ALADDIN. (AND HE SHOULD BE IN A WHOLE NEW WORLD OF PAIN, THE BASTARD).

Also, WTF VAMPIRE NIKOLA TESLA? How have I not heard of this?????

*snort* HAHAHAAAAAAA. That is so perfectly accurate and true. I had the same 'who am I thinking of ???' reaction for the longest time, before I realized that it was his hair and his features that reminded me of Disney. And then I was thinking, "Aladdin, you are so very hot IRL, even hotter than I could have expected, so why must you be evil? I hope you get eaten by the gorram tiger!"

I tried to find a video clip on youtube, but they're all vids, not clips. Anyway, watch Sanctuary! He first appears around episode 5 I think, but the whole show is a gradual delight. It's only 13 eps so far, but I believe they're making a second season.

Such kick ass women! It's like, in any other show--ANY--all the cool women we see here would be male characters, and the male characters would still be male characters, and there'd be one hot, emo chick. Instead... instead, it's beautiful, because the brilliant scientist leader is female--she trades having main character screentime with her male protege, who is sincere and clinical and clumsy, and not very useful in a fight. The muscle & second in command is female--actually, the daughter of the brilliant leader! And they have an entire relationship, whole conversations, that have nothing to do with the male characters!

At this point, they're winning on the shiny gender dynamics, but they seem to exist in a white-washed casting environment, which is a bit sad. Still, the story is fun, and the episodes only get more fun as you go along. Vampire Tesla is, like, the coolest nerd thing I've seen on the Sci Fi channel in a while.
