She does, she knows its kinda weird, and she knows to never ever show it to Castle because he'd never let her live it down.

I could see her ficcing. But I have the weird spec that she actually prefers the character Derek Storm, because he's more of a fantasy wish fulfillment identification figure. I'm imagining that she subconsciously finds it more restful/freeing to identify with a male crime fighting hero than a female one. Esp. since she's bothered by the objectification of Niki on the cover, and has to deal enough with being the only girl playing with a bunch of boys day in day out. I could see her working out things through ficcing Niki, but somehow I see her going for the escape into a less problematic identity trope over that.
