The lame thing about liking ST is that it's emphasizing the lack of direction in my current life and making me feel a distinct absence of career. All these characters are so talented! I hate it.

Somehow, I don't think Ed would have much patience for Zuko. At least not until late season 3 Zuko. Edward's all about drive and decision and doing everything possible to get to his goal. He's had a clear goal since he was 11. He'd understand Zuko's father situation, but he probably wouldn't be able to empathize at all with Zuko's lack of ethical direction, or his inability to make a clear judgment without being overly influenced by Azula/Iroh/Ozai etc.

Zuko: My face!
Edward: MY ARM.
Zuko: My eyebrow!
Edward: MY LEG. MY BROTHER'S SOUL.
Zuko: Okay, okay, you win.

Agreed. But they're both hotheads and tend to lose sight of their purpose when they get angry. Or at least misplace it for a bit. I think Iroh would be a good influence on Ed, too. Hohenheim and Ozai are sooo different.
