Yeah, something about the Ted=Spock comparison just....
When I was making it, I didn't really see it so much as Spock=Ted, but rather Barney/Ted = Kirk/Spock. Especially if you take the crack perspective that "emotional transference" from Spock Prime's mind meld left Kirk with all these pesky "best friends for life" feelings that Spock is, like, at least three movies away from.
I'm kind of still wondering about ST09, and stuff. I was so completely and utterly entranced by the fact that Uhura won Spock, but my gen fan is getting a kick out of this fractious version of BFFs that Spock and Kirk have.
And one of the many awesome things about Uhura is how unswayed she is by Kirk.
Yes. I can't say how pleased I am with how that played out. And, honestly, it would be hard for me to ship anyone seriously with James Kirk. Especially someone so cool and self-possessed as she is in the movie.

*nods* If you think about it, that character dynamic is kinda tragic.
I'm pathetic... I was going to read the fic you linked but I read the comments and everybody is crying and I don't want to be depressed because of fic so I'm skipping XD Maybe later...
It's not sad in the way that you'll regret reading it. It's just very emotional, so reading it gets me all wibbly and soft-eyed. Anyway, it is SERIOUSLY the best use of "i love you" that I've seen in ST fic so far.

You know, in my vast week of experience.

It's the final draft, instead of the version in the middle of the drabblethon.
