Honestly? I haven't had the problems with "Naruto" I've been hearing about for a while now, since about when Sasuke and Itachi fought. Really and truly, I didn't think the title was at its best or anything, but for the most part it at least seemed solid. But ever since Naruto arrived at Pein's hideout, I've finally found myself getting a touch irritated with it.
Again, I won't say I hate it, and I think there's still some interesting stuff in here, but Pein's whole backstory just seems trite and rehashed, and that applies doubly so to his resolution. I'm rather dissappointed this Arc seems to be wrapping up so weakly, because it started out really strong, IMO.
Well, I have my issues with the Sasuke and Itachi storylines post time-jump, but in general I've found it to be mostly entertaining. For a while I kinda liked Sasuke again. Then, after he killed Itachi and got lured YET AGAIN into becoming someone's pawn--this time Madara's--I wanted to kick him in the backside and smack his head for stupidity. I really think Sasuke is 900 times healthier and cooler and more fun and better to read about when he's as far away from Konoha as possible. Not when he's suddenly obsessed with destroying it for reasons that he shouldn't take at face value in the first place, considering the source.
But.
Even with that?
The Uchiha Drama is still more interesting than this. And this for an ending? I can't express the badness. I'll just have to trust that my feelings waft off of me like radiance and can be felt in their potency from as far away as the internet is capable of carrying radiation.
Well, I've always been what you might call a detached Sasuke fan; I like him well enough, but I don't have the same sort of strong attachment to him like I do with some of the others. That might explain why Sasuke's decision to continue pursuing vengeance even in the face of Itachi's death didn't really bother me; it's pretty much all he's got left, seeing as how he actively abandoned his old life in Konoha and made a point of burning that bridge pretty thoroughly. Yes, Naruto and Sakura would likely still welcome him back with open arms (and bless them for that, btw), but Sasuke strikes me as too cynical to believe that himself.
