row row row your boat...
Feb. 11th, 2003 03:37 pmSo the family finally has a decent guess on the "Where is Brian today?" question. My dear brother is currently somehwere between Hawaii and North Korea, which we all now think will be his eventual destination. His ship is the USS Antietam, which if you watch the news, you'll know is with the Carl Vinson Battle Group, based out of San Diego. This article talks abit about it, mentioning that the battle group is being sent to Korea instead of the Persian Gulf in response to "an announcement by North Korean officials that they are restarting a nuclear reactor."
My parents think its worse that his ship is being sent to Korea and not Iraq, and I agree, because North Korea has a lot more formidable means of weaponry and attack. My brother seems pretty cool about it, and not overly worried. I told him to take lots of pictures, to buy himself something neat & forgein, and that if he gets to stop in Japan he'd better buy me an anime poster, to which he laughingly promised agreement.
