wisteria_ put up some screencaps from First Date! And I want use them to illustrate something out about the teaser, and how similar it was to an older season 2 scene...
aahh.... now doesn't this look familiar???
And one more, because I love the pretty blending caught by Alanna here:
But actually, in my mind the later scene between Joyce & Spike in the Summers living room remains the funniest moment in any Buffy episode to date. Even beats out the bazooka scene, and a hundred others. It was just the best.
I just love Spike's body language in the living room scene... he seems so-- I don't know. Anxious seems to be the best word. Like he doesn't know what to say to Joyce, or how to act. That in season 2 was just sweet and cute.
One of my favorite Spike looks is when he's dragging Dru away and he stares outside at the Buffy/Angelus fight... for a second he's worried about her and then he's all "oh, well..."
Now I feel like watching the ep again... argh. Bed. Sleep.

I would have said "nervous", but yep, the body language was tense. I loved their conversation, too. Joyce is such a hoot, a great minor character.
Joyce: Have we met? Spike: Um... you hit me with an ax one time. Remember? Uh, 'get the hell away from my daughter.' Joyce: Oh. Joyce: So, do you, uh, live here in town?
::snigger:: God, I leved that scene. When I first watched it on FX, I was giggling outrageously. Both actors were wonderful... their expressions, their body language.

I loved that too. And in my little shipper head, that moment of indecision was the beginning of the end for Spike The Big Bad Vampire. His choice to team up with Buffy is excusable, but to falter for a moment and actually hesitate in leaving her to die-- the vampire slayer-- that sealed Spike's fate forever. Poor boy never had a chance. :)
