...So, yeah, went to the Sharks hockey game tonight. Was much fun! Also, took friend from H.S. who haven't spoken to in at least 5 months, except once in passing. But all was good, and we instantly re-bonded over--you guessed it (or maybe you didn't?)-- ANIME! Also, it was her first hockey game. I think we'll make a fan out her yet.

When we got back my house, I made her sit and watch my two favorite Trigun vids, and we had some nostalgic moments over the hotness of Vash, the craziness of Knives, the sadness of Wolfwood, and also the whole way the show ended and the flashback episode.

And then she said "I wanna show you this..." ...and when she pulled up the site, before she could say anything I was all:

"YOU HAVE LIVEJOURNAL!"

...So now I've added her ([livejournal.com profile] lin_lin_lucy) and two of my other RL friends to my LJ friends list. I hope I don't scare them off with my constant Buffytalk, but who knows... maybe I'll indirectly create a new fan, even this late in the show history. Constant exposure to Spuffy on my LJ will turn them into BufffyFans and B/S-ers...

Thought some more about Trigun while watching the vids with [livejournal.com profile] lin_lin_lucy, and realized why it's still my favorite anime. Continuity. It means everything. I like shows that have a plan, a running plot, throughout the whole arc of the series.

I like shows that have epsiodes that pick up on hints from previous episodes and it all swirls together to create this vast, complex thing, that makes total sense and offers perfect amount of dramatic emotional pay-off, and yet still leaves a bit to mystery & imagination (and possibly a sequel).

Good movies are like that.

Trigun is like that. Buffy is like that. The Vision of Escaflowne is like that. Farscape was becoming that. Angel might be like that; we'll have to see.

The X Files could have been like that, and indeed was like that in the terms of developing/resolving the M/S relationship, but it missed that mark as far as the overall plot goes.

Heeey, now. The Canucks have miraculously not been sucking this year =P

Although I am amused by the fact that BOTH of Alberta's teams are loooooosers lately. *mocks them*

Eat that Canada!

You are referring to one suck ass hockey team and not the country as a whole I'm assuming.

Kimera is right. The Canucks aren't total crap this year. Who knew?

Sure. I meant it all for the Calgary Flames, the ponces. I suppose the rest of you northerners are alright. ;)

Oh, come on - didn't you love the "CSM is Mulder's father. Samantha's father. No, back to Mulder's father. Oops, maybe he's both. Maybe he's their mother."

That was priceless. Excuse me while I go yell at my CC pics once again.

We here in Calgary have known for years that the Flames suck :) Except for when they're so far out of the playoffs that it doesn't matter. Then they start winning.

Ah... Well, take pride in knowing that they got really bloodythirsty at the end, and they scored two goals in the third period.

Oh-- and there was a fight! A genuine fistfight between one of the sharks and one of the flames. It was cool, but kind of gladiator-like, being in the middle of a cheering stadium.
