So, I took [livejournal.com profile] hellmouth_news off my friends list. That's the update for all the Livejournal BTVS sockpuppet group.

It just hasn't been the same since [livejournal.com profile] thefirstevil stopped updating.

Plus, I never liked the Spike they had. The Buffy was alright, And the Willy the Snitch was amusing, and the Dawn and Anya and Xander were perfect, but something about the way the Spike RPer did the character bothered me. On all points he seemed to embody Spike's character, but for some reason he didn't sound right, never could tell why. Also, didn't like the addition of the whole cast of Charmed into the RPG, as I think that show is one of the absolute worst on tv.

Still, I kept up with most of it for a while, especially after new episodes, when it was like reading a fanfic and fun to imagine. But now I find it utterly boring-- it's lost the funny edge, and the characters are acting bizarrely. Apparently Spiek and Anya are shagging in the upstairs bathroom-- which would have to be the same bathroom he attempted to rape Buffy in. It irritates me: the sockpuppet characters are now so dramatically removed from what's on screen that I can't enjoy reading it.

So, that's done.

Spike was waaay too fanficcy for my tastes. More fluff, less edge. A characiture.

I agree. The Andrew writer is a sweetie and dead on perfect. But Spike is so frickin' Buffy whipped it is vomit inducing.

Besides the spoilerfree thing, a big part of my reasons for stopping the First's journal was that I couldn't keep up with the storylines the rest of the characters had going. I wasn't reading other people's journals (since I didn't want to subconsciously steal anything) but that kind of meant I couldn't bring any other characters into it (I wanted a runin between Andrew and the Harbingers at the Daredevil movie, for instance).

The people who write them are super-nice, particularly the Spike and Willow players, but like you I've defriended Hellmouth News. Maybe Spring Break will be a good excuse for me to go retroactive to the start of the season for the FE journal.

I used to friend a bunch of them, but then I abandonned that for the news updates, because like you it was too hard to keep up with the various storylines, even before I got annoyed at the RPers.

I know exactly what you mean. I kind of drifted away from that and abandoned my sock a little while ago. Granted, I hadn't been there that long anyway but... I don't know it was weird. *shrug* And all the Charmed stuff really confused me since I never watch that show because I hate it.

On a side note. Love the icon. ;)

Thanks! [livejournal.com profile] psychodragon82 made it for the new Spoiler-free campaign that [livejournal.com profile] circe_tigana and I have started for the ending of Buffy's final season. This one was made by [livejournal.com profile] kimberly_a

It freaked me out when yesterday I watched "Hush" for the first time in months with my roommate Ali, then I turned on my computer and found this stuff going on.

Weeeeeeeeeeird.

Personally, I find every one of the title-credits main characters in the RPG to be rather Off in some way. (It's really annoying when the presumably more highly educated characters can't SPELL, for one thing.) I agree about their Spike--I may or may not know of the writer, but I recognize the style of writing, and I DON'T think that's a good thing. And I definitely agree about the insertion of the "Charmed" characters. I don't like that show at all for the awful, awful writing and acting alone, but I didn't start actively loathing until they started treating Cole (who in the few episodes I saw I disliked slightly less than everybody else) even worse than some people think other people treat Spike. See? I'm even rabidly overprotective of the Spike-RIPOFF-characters. *EG*

That said, several of the supporting characters are a *scream*. I can't POSSIBLY say enough good thing things about [livejournal.com profile] thefirstevil, for instance. (Dude, oxymoronic sentence.) Best.Parody.Evaaaaah. I really like [livejournal.com profile] that0therguy, too--Spidey-fan! I SQUEAK with joy! And I've fallen in love with [livejournal.com profile] holden_vamp--I loved the show's "real" Holden so immediately and much that if he'd stuck around (HE ATEN'T DEAD! HE'S IN HIDING!) he might've given Spike a run for his place atop my Vamps to SQUEE Over list. LJ!Holden is snarky, can spell, doesn't writhe into backbreaking throes of mischaracterization, and all in all gives good LJ. And the pseudoromance with [livejournal.com profile] harmony_vamp is a trip.

Or should I say "WAS".

*sighs and holds up a lighter for The First Evil and Holden* Come back to meeeeeeeeeeeee!

But I keep [livejournal.com profile] hellmouth_news around 'cause the headlines amuse me. Usually more than the posts that they link to. Which is quite sad.

Big time. I liked it on reruns for about 5 episdoes, and only for Cole, but then they did jacky things and I stopped. Have you been reading [livejournal.com profile] eliade's comedy ripping of the show? She started a sick addiction to it, but she hates it even as she watched, and griped about how horrible it is and how the only one she semi-liked (Cole) got massively shafted by the writing.

Yeah, no kidding. I liked the one a few weeks ago about how there was no news because the reporters were all off drunk somewhere. ::snicker:: But that's not enough for me to bother with reading any of it now. Especially the Spike RPer turned off his commenting feature, so I can't even ask them what the hell is up.
