So, apparently this episode was half written by you-know who.

And what did we get?

Rain!Spike. Need I really say more?

Also-- what does

..........."You're looking for revenge on a man that doesn't even exist anymore."

There's serious juxaposition going on here... we see here that Spike immediately after turning is almsot exactly the same man regarding his personal relationships. His mother isn't.

And yet, he says that regaining his soul has changed him.

Buffy said he's not the same anymore.

Wood and Giles told her not to fool herself.

What is all this trying to say? That maybe Spike is the same man he always was-- but what Giles and Wood don't get is that he was William all along, not Spike?

My head hurts too. I don't understand. I'm going with the idea that Spike is just special, and UD knows and understands this just like any true fan. ;)

Unless I heard wrong, Spike also referred to his vamp persona in the past tense during his fight with Wood. He said something like "I was a vampire". Very interesting. I think Spike's a really unique being -- a fully integrated demon-soul hybrid and there's a reason why Buffy will need him in the end. I can't wait to see how it will end (even though I'll cry like heck once it's gone).
