cosplay

I swear, next year when I go to fanime, I'm going to go in costume. And I'm going to be the Witch Hunter, Robin.

I have teal/green eyes, glasses, and my hair is about her color (though brighter and prettier, I think), and long enough to wrap up in those weird pigtail wraps.

I'll have to get the jacket; I have a long coat, but it's tan not bdark brown. I'll have to get the balck dress too... maybe make it.

She has the coolest anachronistic costume and I so want it. I've never put serious effort into doing cosplay before.

Edit: Hm... I'm watching episode 5 now. I wonder how many of these I can watch befoe it's safe to go look at fanfiction? Or should I do like I did for Escaflowne and Cowboy Bebop and wait until I've seen the whole thing so I don't get spoiled...

You know, this show has possibly one of my favorite opening sequences of any anime. Previously, that honor went to the second season opening of Gundam Wing and to the opening of Fushigi Yuugi. But this might just top the mark. I love how it's like you're watching two at once... Robin's image and then the images of Amon on the tv screens. Also, really love the short sequence of Robin wandering the city. Reminds me of the music video to "White Reflection" by Two-Mix, off the GW soundtrack.

So how come none of the Buffy music video makers ever make parody movie trailers?

Anime fans do that all the time. You take the audio track from a popular movie trailer, and instead you fill it with clips from your show/fandom. It looks pretty cool. And funny.

EXTRA: I added links in the comments below to 3 really cool vid examples if you're curious about what I'm talking about.

Here's a Hellsing icon I made while experimenting with some multi-layered fonts. It's up for sharing. :)

That's my favorite Integra pic.

Here's a weird thought. I've now watched 7 episodes of Witch Hunter Robin, and we've never seen Robin eat anything once. We see her sit down at tables with other eating people, and we see her drink plenty of coffee, but we never actually see her eat.

It's like the opposite of Legato from Trigun, who is snacking every time he appears on screen.

My next Netflix movie came in. It was supposed to be Cowboy Bebop session 5, since I had never seen the episode with the fat little French guy, but it was actually the second thing on my list-- the CB movie. I've seen the movie twice now, but I wanted to check it out to see if it was worth buying, or if I should just pirate a copy.

I think I'm going to buy the DVD later. It has a slick design, and lots of extra stuff, including interviews with the director, the character designer, the cast from both the Japanese and English versions, and various other production people from both versions. There's special featurettes on all the characters, and numerous other things.

Now I have to sit back and rewatch the film. Especially study the dialogue/speech style for each character, and the characterization since this takes place near the end of the tv show, and my Bebop WIP fic is post-series.

I've been downloading a lot of Witch Hunter Robin.

I have almost half of it now, and will soon have all of it.

I'm thinking I might save it all on disc, and when I do, copies could be made. But not many.

The first person who says they want it, I'll send them a copy of all 26 episodes when I get them all.

Anyone? Speak up if you do.

And the lucky winner is...

I've had 11 Diet Cokes in 3 and 1/2 days.
There's something wrong with that.

diet coke consumption: 13 total units, so-so.
alcohol consumption: 0 units, v. bad. Stupid law.
fruit consumption: 6 strawberries, approx. 15 grapes, 1/2 apricot (too smashed), 1/4 avacado, 1 plum. v. good.
calories: what are those? I've gone down a pant size these months anyway some I must be doing something right.

So I told myself I'd do the dishes.

I'd have to, you see, to cook dinner.

Instead I piled them all in the corner of the counter and told myself I'd do them tomorrow.

When left on my own, I do everything except the dishes. It's a failing of mine.

It's not even the worst chore. And yet, when there's no one aroudn to ask me, I can't bring myself to do it until the last minute when it's absolutely necessary.

I had an excellent dinner though. Too much of it. I always cook too much with stir-fry. I chopped up 2 pork chops into small cubes, and fried those with lots of garlic salt and lemon pepper. In separate pans I also fried yellow squash, broccoli, green beans, red bell pepper, and celery-- all chopped fresh produce.

I added lots of garlic powder, but then couldn't think of what else to add. I know nothing aobut spices except that paprika goes on devilled eggs and garlic goes on everything. So I went through the spice drawer and radomly added cilantro, sage, and one other thing. All I could hear in my head was that song "Parsely, sage, rosemary and thyme..." I looked at the thyme but elected not to add it. We didn't have parsely or rosemary.

There was heavy consideration given to the idea of adding canned stewed tomatoes. This idea was dropped, as it'd likely wipe out all the garlic and hodge-podge of spices already there. Plus, I'd never had tomatoes with pork before and wasn't sure it'd be a good plan.

I poured all the different pans into the same giant pan and let them fry together. I added some lemon juice, fried another minute, and then poured it into a huge bowel and called it dinner. & lunch tomorrow.

One of my better experiments. Stir fry is actually something I'm pretty good at.

Now I can feel the dirty kitchen glaring at me from three rooms over.
