timepiececlock: (lightning struck my brain)
I watched Trigun episode 6, and I saw something I had missed before-- Kaite! The boy from the sandsteamer in episode 7-8. He had one walk-by line in this episode. Coolness.

I wanted to take an art class and a polu-sci class, but the former clashed with my Bio lab schedule (::groan::), and the latter didn't have the precise class I wanted.

This is driving me up the wall. I'm watching the first few minutes of DVD of Miyazaki's Castle of Cagliostro, and I can't stop obsessing about Lupin's voice... except, wait, now that I'm sitting here typing, I recognize it! It's TAMAHOME! From Fushigi Yuugi! Whhheee!! I'm so smart and stuff! ::bounces in chair:: It's Tamahome! Damn, I KNEW it was familiar!

I go and watch the 1979 movie Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro. And now that it's finished, I can't stop grinning. I'm not entirely sure why, but there's this huge smile pasted on my face. CoC isn't as dramatically strong as Princess Mononoke, or as thematically strong and lush as Spirited Away, but dammit it's fun. I never got bored and I never felt like they were insulting my intelligence. Though it is an old animated film and thus not as vibrant as more recent animated films, it's still smoothly done and well-designed, with excellent mise en cene (watch me put my vocabulary from that single film class to work!). And the chase scenes! The many many wonderful chase scenes! I so need some Lupin/Fujiko fanfiction right now...

But honestly, in the end what better recommendation can you have for a movie beyond, "It's done, and I can't stop smiling" ?
