Well... I've been keeping a secret from you guys.
You see, I'm ... LEAVING FOR VACATION ALL NEXT WEEK!!!!!
I'll be back on approximately the 8th. We taking the family boat (Glory Road) up the Delta waters, from Oakland where it's docked. I've not done this before (though I have been to the Delta for a weekend-only trip for 4th of July, since some big-name local has fireworks specifically for boaters every year, and thousands of boats show up to crowd each other and have waterfights and blast music), and am looking forward to it. Also, it's been a while since I've been on a long vacation. We're taking the little poodle. Usually, we hate to do that because he really doesn't like being on the boat, but the local kennels were full for Labor Day.
I promise to finish at least one of the 9 or so books I'm in the middle of right now, and to bring a notebook in case I get overwhelmed and need to write fanfic to stem the loss of internet. I also have a new Teen People magazine to read. Usually, I loathe teen-anything in magazines, but this one had a gorgeous very casual picture of a shirtless Sean Williams Scott on the cover, and they were out of Entertainment Weekly. You know, when his acting roles don't require him to be a stupid ass, Sean William Scott is really quite good looking in front of the camera. Not rivalling my crushes on Ewan McGregor or JM, but major points for all that skin and that cute little broken-heart tatoo on the hip. ::pets magazine::
I delayed packing until an hour ago, because I'm lame. I still don't have all my CDs/books/personals packed, only my clothes.
We're taking our 2 discs of The Two Towers Netflix DVDs with us. I'll be content to do nothing all day but sail, swim, read, play cards and backgammon, and listen to Hobbits and Wizards and Elves and Aragorn on repeat in the background, with the occasional commentary of Peter Jackson. Life is good on a boat.
Which reminds me; I haven't packed my swimsuit yet! Best get to that.
Oh, and one more thing-- I just found out today that my brother's ship is coming back in mid-to-late September! That's 2 months earlier than expected! It's 9 months at sea total. Way too much-- they're supposed to be out for 6 months run. Stupid Bush. Stupid Korea. I plan to hug him a lot, especially if I can convince my parents to have us all drive down to San Diego to greet the ship.
Anyway, guys, don't get me anything giant in my email, but don't forget about me either!
When I come back, I'll expect at least one fanfic rec from the lot of you, several fanfic updates (::looks hopefully at
nautibitz,
sassangel, and
redrover1980::), and updates on the latest drama to shock and awe the LJ community or world or whatever. I'm usually a week late for those anyway, so it ought to work out.
