timepiececlock: (almost famous Spuffy)
I'm watching teh film Light It Up now. About 20 minutes left. I'm surprised by how good, and how restrained this film has been so far. Well, some of it has been over the top, but for the msot part it's been very restrained in its handling of the subject matter. Which is a few students taking over a dilapidated school with a cop as their hostage after an accidental shooting wounded the cop. Mostly, it's a commentary about poverty and about police's treatment of people who live in poverty-stricken neighborhoods. I hadn't intended to watch it all, but I've been sucked in.

Watched Second-hand Lions t=matinee and caught up with K. Good time. The movie was cute, about what I expected it to be-- that is, an adventure/coming of age story. A boy with a lackluster and flakey mother who drops him off to live with his two great uncles for a summer. However, the story is almost more about the uncles (Caine and Duvall) than about the boy (Haley Osmont, who, by the way, has had his voice change now.) It's amusing and cute, with some darker undertones but not many. The best part were the campy story-book-like flashbacks to the uncles' adventures in Africa and the Middle East.

You Angel fen might be interested to know that Lyndsey the one-armed-man got to play a young Robert Duvall. He had two lines, but many, many scenes jumping around, riding horses, and swordfighting. Took me a while to place the actor, but I did! Just thought it'd be of interest.

I'm using my left hand now for my mouse. It's quite clumsy so far, but I'll get used to it and it will hopefully preserve my good hand in later times. Highlighting text is a real bitch though. I'll have to work on that.
