You notice trends in iconning?
We had ever-popular "my fandom" trend.
We had the never-ending poem sets and song sets trends (which I love.)
I notice the previously recent and much-loved trend of having small type text, but with one emphasized word set in larger, prettier, more colorful font (we'll call it the Pretty Word Emphasis trend), is now being slowing replaced with the Fragmenting trend. Everyone has their icons fragmented by lines or boxes, sometimes even having one section be animated while others aren't.
I wonder how long that will last, and what the next trend will be.

Here's a spooky, eerie fanfic for Luna Lovegood. I liked it, because I lke twisted things.

I spent the drive back from Senator Sher's office today listening to The Scientist by Coldplay on repeat, and reminiscing about the beautiful and abrupt ending of Farscape. Because that song always has been, and always will be, the definitive John/Aeryn song for me. It's why I'm still attached to my old icon (see above), even though I could probably remake it better and prettier now, if I wanted. But it has sentimental shipper & fan value.
Damn, I do love this song. The line "Come back and haunt me," almost makes me tear up, for it's simplistic combination of sadness, hope, and love.
On my own love front, I've decided that the tall smoking S is definitely only going to be a talking buddy, because he takes way too much care to lounge attractively when he's smoking outside the classroom. It's almost silly.
Unfortunately, I'm still totally clueless about F, from now on to be known as Mickey. That's the Maryland 19-year-old who wants to be a geneticist. I'm going to call him Mickey (though I think he's actually Persian), because Hey, Mickey, You're so fine. You're so fiiiiiiine you blow my mind.
He's staying in the class for the quarter, and voluntarily sits next to me during lectures (lab is once a week, lecture is 4 times a week.) Unfortunately, the class doesn't allow for much talking anyway, and today we didn't actually say anything to each other beyond a nod hello. I don't think he's that into me.
But what the hell, he's pretty.

Will You Dance, by Janis Ian
Sep. 30th, 2003 10:07 pmFor some reason, I'd really like to see a Spike/Buffy/Drusilla video to this song. It's not a rock song, in fact it's almost classical in its sound, but it just strikes me as fitting, especially for William/Dru, and Spike's own aspirations toward romancing Buffy. If I figure out how to rip songs off CDs, I'll post it for you guys. Because it's the kind of song that should be heard. The music in it... it's difficult to put to words. It almost sounds... Victorian, if I only knew what Victorian music sounded like. A morbid immortal kind of Victorian.

SOMEONE IS WAITING OVER BY THE WINDOW
JUST BEYOND THE STAIRWELL SOMEONE'SE CRYING
DROWNING IN THE WORDS OF THE PROPHETS
THAT ARE WRITTEN FOR THE DEAD AND THE DYING
SOMEONE'S LYING. NO ONE'S BUYING.
SOMEONE IS DYING. PANIC IN THE STREETS
CAN'T GET NO RELIEF, SOMEONE ESCAPING
WAITING ON A LINE FOR THE HOLY REVOLUTION
PARADING ILLUSION
SOMEONE'S USING. MOST AMUSING
WILL YOU DANCE, WILL YOU DANCE?
SMELL OF CAVIAR AND ROSES
TEACH YOUR CHILDREN ALL THE POSES
HOW FAMILIAR ARE WE ALL...
WILL YOU DANCE, WILL YOU DANCE
LIGHT FANTASTIC IN THE MORNING
HOW ROMANTIC TO BE WHORING
BORING THOUGH IT MAY BE
WHO'LL SURVIVE
IF YOU AND I SHOULD FALL
SOMEONE IS BLEEDING CRIMSON IN THE NIGHT
STRANGERS, IN THE LIGHT A SUDDEN MEETING
GREETING ONE BY ONE EVERY LIFE RUNS
FLASHING BEFORE THOSE DASHING EYES
WILL YOU DANCE, WILL YOU DANCE?
TAKE A CHANCE ON ROMANCE
AND A BIG SURPRISE?
WILL YOU DANCE, WILL YOU DANCE?
TAKE A CHANCE ON ROMANCE
AND A BIG SURPRISE?
JUST BEYOND THE STAIRWELL SOMEONE'SE CRYING
