timepiececlock: (what the shit is this?)
Gah!

It's Faye's voice. Talking to Vash's voice.

Too weird. ::shudders::

This reminded me about my basic reaction when I first watched it in subbed: slooooooooooooooooooooooow. That hasn't changed with the English cast, I guess.

I still can't decide if Amon is very attractive or very ugly.

Actually, Amon's voice is the only one that I'm not really digging. The ones I mentioned above... they're surreal, but I could get used to them. Robin's voice is alright... it's familiar, but not so familiar as to be distracting. The others are alright too... the restaurant owner's voice is perfect and exactly what I would expect it to be.

Rewatching the first episode reminded me that this show is all about the character build up. It will be interesting to follow in the English version.

What's up with the opening? It's not the one from the original. But I'm trying to remember if maybe the first episode did have a different introduction than the rest.

Where did the the vague and ominious mock-historical XFiles-y quotes go? I hope they haven't dropped them completely.

::comes to sudden realization::

Hey.... if Witch Hunter Robin is playing on Cartoon Network, in English, then that means FANFIC!
timepiececlock: (Spike Spiegel walking in)
[livejournal.com profile] girlwithjournal expressed some doubt of the idea that Adrien Brody could play the part of Spike Spiegel of Cowboy Bebop, on account of Mr. Brody being "too delicate."

This is what I say to that:

Mmmmmmm. I had to cap those from a rather poor quality Quicktime trailer for the movie Affair of the Necklace, where there is much sexyness in late-18th-century period clothing, since I don't own the movie. Then again, I haven't installed my DVD-rom yet so it's not like I could make good caps even if I did own the movie, but here ya go.

These pics aren't as good as the bathtub scene, though, where he stands up all wet, and you wonder how someone with that nice pecs has the most narrowly toned waist you've ever seen on a guy. It's a fascinating combination.

Why should he be Spike Spiegel? Because he's tall, lanky, has a face that actually kinda looks like the character's (rare with anime), has the right skin/hair coloring for it, and he's a great actor with an statue to prove it.

You know, it never occured to me until just now that the girl in Labyrinth was the same Jennifer Connelly actress who is in a bunch of movies lately. It's an "Oh. Huh." moment.

I watched Labyrinth once. I think I was about 12 or 13 (i.e. old enough to have a crush on Agent Mulder but also young enough to think anyone over 18 was old and gross. Except, you know, Agent Mulder-- especially when he's with Scully because that was twu wuv.) I thought it was cute, and I liked the goblins that tagged along, but I thought David Bowie was too scary to be sexy.

I kinda still think he's too scary in that movie to be sexy.

But I did like his name. Jaaaaaaaareth. Jareth is a very, very cool name. I'm a fantasy buff and so of course names that end -eth are automatically a bit cooler than most, and Jareth just sounds cool. Like Jarod, but cooler. Like it would be a hella cool name to give your kid ...if it weren't incredibly pretentious and also doom him to a life of ridicule by David Bowie fans.

I should put this movie on my Netflix list.

And I'm going to go find Labyrinth fanfic now. Nevermind that I don't remember any of the characters names and barely any plot... fanfic!
