timepiececlock: (Roy choke a bitch?!)
I just got called a "newbie" on the adult swim board. For some reason, this is really cracking me up.

http://boards.adultswim.com/adultswim/board/message?board.id=6&message.id=1033681&jump=true
(near the bottom of page 1-- the only page I think)

See, I've lurked around the AS messageboard for about a year now, but I really only go into threads about series that I like, and I don't talk all that often, so my post count is only like a hundred forty-something. But best as I can figure, being called a "newbie" is the height of insultdom in ASmessageboard-verse. (side bar: I personally could care less about being known as a newbie even in those times when I am new, because I don't advertise myself as such, and frequently I have great disdain for that labelling system as a whole-- who cares if someone is new to a fandom or not? Most people could be new and you'd never no it anyway so the distinction is pointless. Also, don't waste my time with pointless shit if it's not funny. /end side bar) It never actually happened to me when I *was* new though, so it's kinda cracking me up.

Although I admit there's a small amount of indignation, cause someone said "you tell that newbie!" to someone else who had been debating me on the somewhat finer points of why the Sin characters are called what they are called in FMA, congratulating him on his winning arguement. I don't have a problem with the name-calling, but with the assumption that he "told" me. I *won* that arguement. He lost, I won, cause I had the better argument and (though of course this isn't as important) I got the last word. Why does he get congratulations?

It's not right. I won that one dammit. It was a clear victory for Team Shaka Who Has Better Sentence Structure and Grammar and More Sound Reasoning Than The Rest Of You, You 10-15-Year-Olds.

::sigh:: I have a stupid fandom. It's sad but true. I really hope that once the people who watch Full Metal Alchemist on Cartoon Network actually start writing fanfiction, we don't get all the stupid people there too. I'm hoping for more the CB fandom range-- a lot of badfic but also a considerable amount of good fic mixed in between. I don't want FMA to turn into another Fruits Basket fandom, where the greatest mystery on the internet is how such an intelligent series has the stupidest fanfiction writers I have *ever* come across (EVER, in all television, film, book, or anime fandoms), on a 134:1 basis, approximately.

[livejournal.com profile] jaina, this post has spoilers. But you're the only person on my flist I think who hasn't read the manga or seen all the anime so I'm not gonna cut tag it.

Episode 108

14:00 minute mark:
Go Sasuke's Conscience! Go! You can do it! Come on Sasuke's Conescience!
That's it Kakashi, you've almost got him!

15:40 minute mark:
Aww, the team pictures. So cute.

16:35 minute mark:
Uh-oh, Sakura just put o her Resolution Face. Might she actually stick her neck out this episode?

17:17 minute mark:
Does Naruto's hair look longer in the back or is it just me? I'll have to check that later.

19:00 mark:
Kabuto! I hear Kabuto's voice! ...ahhh.... the world is bright again, knowing that my favorite duplicitous evil lieutenant is back and still fabulously hot. Welcome back, anime boyfriend.

Episode In Full:
Hmm.... I thought that hospital roof fight would go on a lot longer than it did. Interesting. But Kakashi came and did his "I am Kakashi and thus cooler than anyone here" interruptus thing, and that makes up for it. Mmm...Kakashi. Also, sad. Sad to know that he only fights for the village, cause he really has no one left that he cares about... except the possibly these three.

You know, Kakashi's voice actor is my favorite voice actor on Naruto. Then again Kabuto's voice actor is really good too. I'd like an entire episode where they're the only ones who talk, and they talk all the time.

EDIT: Oh my. Kabuto's voice actor did Tasuki in Fushigi Yuugi. NO WONDER I LOVE HIM.

EDIT#2: Oh wow. Kakashi's voice actor did Hatori, who is in my mood icon. You know what this means? This means I am digging out my fansubs of FB as soon as I type this period you see right here.

EDIT#: ::Rewatches the end of episode 7 of Fruits Basket.:: Whoa. It is totally Kakashi's voice comming out of Hatori's mouth. How did I not notice this before? ::is in love::

You know what would make a pretty music video? Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake-- either "Sea" or "Finale"-- to the anime The Vision of Escaflowne.

I'd also love an FMA video to "The Battle of New Orleans." Unfortunately I don't know if that song even exists on the internet. I've never seen it anywhere. My mom has it on a 45 record-- it must be old.

Edit: or not. Because I just found it for free downloading on amazon.com.

Hm. This is not the same version my mom has on her record. But still, it's cool to listen to again.

Spoilery for the WHOLE DAMN SHOW, but in a very interesting and original way. A backstory on two of the Sins... you have to read it to get it, but once you get it, it's cool.
timepiececlock: (soldiers who don't do anything)
Well, tonight for two hours I tried my hand at using Adobe Premier Pro. It was an unsatisfying experience because I had fuck-all idea what "using Adobe Premier Pro" means. I don't even know what the windows are for-- it's like being asked to use Microsoft Word when you didn't even know what the symbols on the keyboard are supposed to represent letters. So I quit and posted a plea for help at [livejournal.com profile] vidding, and instead used Goldwave to prepare the song I wanted to use.

I took the Johnny Horton version of "Battle of New Orleans" and cut it down from 2:32 minutes to 1:28 minutes, cutting off some of the choruses and one of the verses. I like the end result-- the music is mostly drums so the cuts are difficult to point out just by hearing it, and it also is now an easy size for me to try to make my first music video: very short and simple and not too scary.

Now if only I can actually figure out how to work Adobe, I could get started, and someday present y'all with a little Full Metal Alchemist video devoted to the soldiers who don't do anything. ::hopeful::
