Here are my drabbles for episodes 5 and 6. It took a little long cause I couldn't decided how to do the Hughes drabble. Ah well, I like how it came out.

I was reading the sequel to "That's Why They Call It The Blues" by Nataku-chan, and it got me thinking about my own long-neglected Cowboy Bebop fic.

Basically my idea was to take all the cliches of post-series fic, and run with them--in reverse. And add a dose of Faye/Spike but leave it open-ended too. In fact I planned out about 20 chapters, and I know the basic plot from end to end. I designed it more like a short novel in layout than an episode. I even planned out how I want Spike's character to develop over the course of the story and how I could incorporate changes over time that were a direct result of how the anime ended. I have Edward and Jet there as themselves and not as plot devices. And my storyline was good too-- pretty damn original, but with touches of that CB style too.

The only problem is that I can't get off my damn butt to write the first chapter. I've done the prologue, but I can't seem to go any farther than that. I know what I want, but it's like I have no confidence that I'll get Spike to talk and act like Spike acts in the show.

And to top it all off-- [livejournal.com profile] jaina actually gave me the dub of Cowboy Bebop, so that I could a) make vids if I wanted to, or b) refamiliarize myself with canon if I wanted to write fic, since its been like a year and half since I've actually watched the show.

And I still can't make myself even WATCH the episodes. It's like my mind is trying to out-think itself: what if I rewatch it only to realize along the way that my Great Idea for a fanfic is not even plausible after all? What then? I shall be heartbroken. But on the other hand, how can I write fic if I can't even remember details of Spike's speech pattern, how he talks? How will I write convincing dialogue or inner thoughts?

Or, to sum all the above paragraphs up in one statement: I'm a chicken. Yup. This post deserves my indecisive Wembley icon.

[livejournal.com profile] voleuse made a post theorizing about the breakdown of houses in Harry Potter (always a fun discussion) and reminded me of some theorizing I was doing about a week ago about how one could break down the characters of FMA into the HP houses. Especially Edward and Alphonse.

I am tempted to put Al in Gryffindor, but if subtlety is the testor (as Voleuse suggested), he's a lot more subtle than Edward. And yet--although Edward is often not subtle, he is when he needs to be or when something depends on him being subtle, and I can't decide if he belongs in Slytherin or Ravenclaw.

Both boys could conceivably be in Ravenclaw given that they're child prodigies, but Edward clearly loves to be sneaky and loves to win, which makes me want to put him in Slytherin. There's also the fact that both of them are always seeking to fullfill their desires-- they risked forbidden alchemy to bring back their mother, and their both willing to do so again to restore themselves.

And yet, they both study like crazy and work for what they want (although Edward sometimes slacks off if Al isn't there to push him along), and they are both determined and loyal-- so they could Hufflepuffs. Then again, as alchemists and scientists and planners, they might both be sorted into Ravenclaw. After all, though Edward may be just a little smarter, it was Alphonse who finished the state's written alchemy exam in the time alotted.

Or you could take into the fact that they're both absurdly brave and determined. Gryffindor.

See? It's hard. And even discussing it bring out the inherent flaw in the 4 house system-- a person may possess all of the significant traits at once, in equal measure. What then? Whichever one you'd then sort Al or Ed into reveals your personal interpretation of which one seems more likely... that's hardly a concrete analytical decision.

I guess, after thinking about it, if I had to sort them, I'd either put both of them in Ravenclaw, or I'd put Alphonse in Ravenclaw and Edward in Slytherin. Nah. I'd put them both in Ravenclaw-- we can't break them up after all.

EDIT- This is how I'd sort the other major characters:

Mustang: Slytherin (though he came *this* close to being a Gryffindor in my head)
Scar: Gryffindor
Winry: Hufflepuff
Hughes: Hufflepuff (and best friends with a Slytherin-- arent' they a pair)
Hawkeye: Hufflepuff
Armstrong: Gryffindor
Scieska: Hufflepuff (bordering on Gryffindor)
Izumi: Ravenclaw
Hohenheim: Ravenclaw
Archer: Slytherin

I just got to Hollow Bastion on Kingdom Hearts.

Riku! Sora! WOOBIE ANGST: DISNEY VERSION!

Edit: Riku, you pussy. That's the easiest fight I've had in this entire game. Come back when you're really and then we'll fight.
