I have this great desire to make an icon with the line "We'll go be heroes." paired with the Wallflowers song lyric line "We can be heroes" paired with something horrible, angsty, TRAGIC, and possibly bloody.

Cause dude, it was the last thing he said to her before the _-_-_-_ with _-_-_-_.

Which is sad.

Also, I'm annoyed. I can't find my tape to rewatch the _-_-_-_ scene before going to bed. I think my parents took it into their room (sleeping now) so they could watch 24, which I also recorded.

Speaking of 24, I can't believe Palmer made that call to the Turkish leader. He should have looked at them all when they asked and said a big "Well, fuck you. Too bad." I just lost all respect for his character. That was wrong, and he was under no obligation to do it.

Actually, it was in Palmer's character. He's not the vindictive type. He's the type of man that does what's right, no matter the consequences. That's why he's here now, ousted out of power. I know he was probably torn up about it, being asked to make the call, but if it saved the lives of the men on the bombers, he didn't really have a choice. Those men are just following orders, albeit bad ones. But they're innocent nonetheless.

It's not a matter of vindictiveness; it's the wrong thing to do. For one thing it's illegal now that he's no longer the president, illegal for him to do and for them to ask. On top of that, by lying to the other leader... it's just wrong. That government will never trust Palmer again, or trust an American leader for years. Neither will several other countries once word gets out (assuming the attack happens, which it won't of course but they don't realize that because it's a tv show), and that can drastic ramifications in the future that would cost many more lives than just two pilots.

Ehh, you're thinking legalities. Palmer's the kind of guy that does what's right, like Tony and Michelle when they were helping Jack before getting arrested. I'm sure Palmer knows about what you've brought up, but I think he'd still do what's best for his people before thinking of the ramifications.

But see, to me there is a difference there. I look at the show, and I say that Tony and Michelle did what was right, Palmer did not.

It's hard to articulate why it feels wrong to me, but it does, and not just legally. The potential future WORLD ramifications of the American president lying to the foregin dignity on the eve of an attack, not to mention a coup occuring in the presidency... to me that could be MUCH worse than the loss of two pilots lives. It's just the wrong thing for him to do.

"Let's go be heroes."

Hmm, several people quoted that but the line actually goes, "We'll go be heroes."

Just wanted to point out that David Bowie originated the song "Heroes". The Wallflowers tried to cover it, unsuccesfully in my opinion. Don't mind me... just Bowie obsessed here (as if the icon weren't an indication).
