Look at the pretty icon [livejournal.com profile] savaa made for me! Isn't she talented?

The words are from "if everything happens that can't be done" by E.E. Cummings. I just thought that line was so Dawnnish. The whole poem's excellent.

She also made me another from a different Cummings poem: at the bottom ::apreciative sigh:: The third one from the bottom is hers too, a slightly older one.

I love e. e. cummings, and 'One' has to be one of my favorite poems ever.
Which poem is the second icon from? I love the lines, but I can't recognize it. It works jut wonderfully with Buffy/Spike.

Being a Spike fan, however, I always kinda thought of 'One' as relating more to him than any other character on BtVS. Especially as how, depending on how it's played in Angel, he might have taken Angel's shansu (for the record, I hope it *doesn't* go that way, but who knows?).

You're right, though--'One' works equally as well with Dawn, which I probably wouldn't have seen if you hadn't pointed it out :D

Have a great day!

Er... Are we talking about the poem from the Dawn icon? It's not called "One." It's called "if everything happens that can't be done."

That being said, *pulls out Cummings book* yeah, it could be for Spike too, I suppose. Though more likely for William, in my opinion.

Ok, maybe you got me there. I could see it applying to a newly human Spike. Doesn't really have much to do with Spike as a vampire, but if you're talking about Spike turning human, maybe.

I did uses the last line of the poem-- "We're wonderful one times one"-- in a spuffy icon once. :)

This icon here uses words from his much shorter poem "in spite of everything."

*g*

Yup, I was talking about 'if everything happens' when I said 'One.' Guess for those five seconds I managed to somehow convince myself that there were two titles for that poem, one long, one short. Like how you can either refer to Dickinson's poetry either by first line or by number.
My brain does what it can to enable my laziness, even if that requires making stuff up out of whole cloth ;P

Thanks for the title to the second poem. Looked it up, loved it, though 'if everything happens that can't be done' remains my favorite e.e. cummings poem.

Cheers!

My all-time favorite is actually "anyone lived in a pretty how town." The lyrical tone to that, almost ballad-like, realy appeals to me. I have it memorized. :)

Tthough, for Spike & Buffy, I actually fall back on "What if a much of a which of a wind," the words to which I just adore.

::shivers appreciatively::

I love "What if a much of a which of a wind." It's so haunting, so eerie. Kind of a Twilight of the Gods vibe, you know? Love it. You're right, very Buffy/Spike.

Haunting's a good description. But it's hopeful too. And more than a little mystical/earthy in description. I love how I can pick almost any line and say "That's Spuffy, right there."

Yes, poetry rocks. As does the Spuffy. Which is really only appropriate, when you think about it ;)

Take care and good night!
