dude. *don't* give your number out. if he turns out to be a creepy stalker who calls you multiple times a day including 2am in the morning, you're screwed. i learned this the hard way.
ask him for his. then *you* can be the one honing your mad stalker skills.

I don't either. I've only asked a guy out once in my life-- to senior winter ball. He turned me down. Then I asked him to take me to senior prom because at that point we were in the friends stage and I had no date. I ended up going with 3 guys and another girl. Whose date was shose was sort of debatable.

I gave my number to this one guy a few months ago, but he never called me.

One guy asked me for my phone number and I gave it to him. He called me the next day and I decided I didn't like him. The next time he called I told my dad to tell him I wasn't available. He didn't call a third time.

See, I think questions like this kind of depend quite a bit upon the people involved... Not that I'm like initiative girl. LOL. Nothing of the sort.

New guy is nice person whose been receptive to smiles & conversation, but unfortunately I only met him 3 days ago and I only have 3 days left of summer classes.

That sounds very promising. Although, it does seem to be crunch time. I hate that feeling.

Well, feel no need to take my advice (because I very much lack a stellar history with romance)... but I'd say this on the phone number subject: If you offer the guy your number, he'll be more likely to accept, but he may not call or he may be a psycho and call you every few hours (it's happened to me...but it doesn't sound like this guy is too creepy). Also, IF he was a not so nice guy he might prefer taking a number if he was already attached.

But you have more control if you ask for his number. Guys with girlfriends or general creeps would be less likely to give it out. Plus, if you decide you don't like him, it's not such a big mess.

What I've been doing lately is "exchanging phone numbers" it's an easy term and it covers all the bases IF you use a cell phone number or something so the guy (if he's not your type...or overly um, CLINGY) can't harass you too much.

Those are my thoughts. But, talk about the blind leading the blind (not that you're blind)! LOL. I should probably be asking for advice, not giving it out -- in this area anyway.
