timepiececlock: (hi I don't care thanks)
[personal profile] timepiececlock
I'll admit, a part of me is laughing at the power outtage on the north east coast yesterday. The little devil on my shoulder is jumping up and down dancing and singing "Ha ha! How do YOU like it, huh?! Laugh at us Californians for our power problems, huh? huh? Look at you, a whole freaking multi-state, multi-national outage! ha ha!"

Then the angel on my other shoulder slaps her wrist and shoves cake in her mouth to get her to shut up. She still grins a bit, though.

And isn't it fun for just a moment to laugh?

At least until I get the next DWP bill...

Hey, is that Buffy/Spike on your icon? I thought the comics skipped over B/S and all the scary season 6 themes like the books did.

Apparently not!!!

Glad you like the icon!

I love their linked hands. What issue is that from? I'd like to skim through it at the comic store.

No problem--it should be #46. I don't know if it's still in stores, but good luck!

Holy god. How much oral sex would I have to give you to let me share that icon?

If not, I can always just whoreship it from afar.

It'S A DEAL!!!

*g*

Go ahead--it was offered for sharing a few months ago on [livejournal.com profile] buffy_icons, so it would hardly be fair for me to deny it to anyone else. Thanks for asking me, though.

I still get the oral sex though, right?

Well, I actually was looking at it, and ended up editing it and sort of creating my own version. Do you know who first made it so I can give them credit for the images used?

::bangs head::

No, I don't. It was offered about two months ago; and I have so many icons (it's really scary) that I only note the maker when they specifically say they want credit. Now I wish I had noted it anyway, since so many people have commented on it.

So sorry.

I don't suppose it's sharable, is it? ;p

Love it.

Awesome job though, and know that the sharing request as the highest complement I could ever pay anyone for their icons.

Well, alright, you you convinced me! You can use it. But be discreet and judicious about sharing it with others-- idea idea that some vengeful iconmaker makes her way back to me to beat up on me for stealing her icon kinda freaks me out. :) Sincerely, thank you for the compliment.

Oh!

But...I didn't mean...

Thank you, very much for allowing me to share it. And of course I'm going to, because it's wonderful. But I didn't mean for what I said earlier to be a means of pressuring you into lending it to me. You said you'd rather not share, and that was fine with me; I completely understood that you might prefer to keep it for yourself.

I don't nag people, I didn't mean to sound like I was nagging you, and that was what I had intended to convey along with my admiration (with a respectful helping of envy) of the finished icon.

So, here's what I'm trying to say: Thank you so, so much. I'm taking you up on your offer because I can't turn it down, and don't want to; but in deferment to your original wishes, I'm only going to use it very, very infrequently. And if someone else admires it, of course I'll credit you, and of course I won't offer it for sharing. I wouldn't have even if you had said 'yes' the first time. You edited it; and if I hadn't already had the base gif that you used, you probably would have made something very similar from the stills that [livejournal.com profile] wisteria_ posted a day or two ago.

So--erm--THANKS!!!

::huggles::
I know you weren't trying to pressure me, and I didn't do it because I felt "pressured." I'm just a softie who likes to share anyway. In all likihood I would have emailed you a few days from now anyway saying I changed my mind. I think I was trying to be more "noble by deffering credit" than I actually am at heart. Plus, internet ettiquette is always confusing. So, I share with you. I'm going to use it, cause I like it. You're going to use it, because you like it. We are both happy. :)

Thanks--I was worried about that (as you probably could tell!).

So, WEEE! We're sharing an icon together! Now it's time for you, my dear, to get started on that post-Chosen Anya fic you were tantalizing us all with in you more recent post.

;p

Um, actually, this is the third time that NY has had to deal with a blackout of this size and before it was for much more time.

I do remember that NY has had significant black-outs before. I was kind of surprised that this one included some Canadian cities as well though-- it had never occured to me that they mihg have interconnecting power sources.

Yep one main one right near Niagra Falls. Actually, the last huge one that lasted for several days was b/c lightning struck this same plant. You would think that we woul have the technology at this point to avoid blackouts like this, you know? On either coast.

ext_10182: Anzo-Berrega Desert (Default)
From: [identity profile] rashaka.livejournal.com
I don't think so. I think it's the opposite-- by having technology in the first place we're accepting the possibility of black-outs. We'll never be free of the risk of technical failure as long as we employ technology, and we can only prepare for the weather so much.

Date: 2003-08-15 03:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] sweet-ali.livejournal.com
Well, at least this time, it seems it isn't weather related. And i agree about this dependence on technology. One of my friends was staying at a hotel and the bellhops had to escort everyone back to their rooms b/c there were no keys, only key cards.

There are rumors of a hacker getting into the system. Which is highly possibly. Again with the dependence.

Are you sure you should have cake, since you have been so naughty?
