I don't understand the point behind the song "Miss Independant" by Kelly Clarkson.

So there's a girl who's "independant" and "self-sufficient", "unafraid", smart, and in control of her life. And she falls in love, and she loses all these things.

But she's better for it, because now she had love?

the hell?

Am I missing something in the lyrics? Way to halt that stereotype in its tracks, Kelly. Now go find a man, give him all your money, and never sing again unless he's instructing you directly on how to do it. ::pukes::

This song, on the other hand, cracks my shit up every time I hear it. At first it's sweet and innocuous... until you start to pay attention to the words. ;)

Oh! I know! I know! I heard that for the first time the other day and wanted to bash my head into a brick wall. God forbid women be independent! That's going against the natural order of things. They must find a man and give up those silly independent, career-oriented leanings. Silly girls. They'll learn one day.
