I don't understand the point behind the song "Miss Independant" by Kelly Clarkson.

So there's a girl who's "independant" and "self-sufficient", "unafraid", smart, and in control of her life. And she falls in love, and she loses all these things.

But she's better for it, because now she had love?

the hell?

Am I missing something in the lyrics? Way to halt that stereotype in its tracks, Kelly. Now go find a man, give him all your money, and never sing again unless he's instructing you directly on how to do it. ::pukes::

This song, on the other hand, cracks my shit up every time I hear it. At first it's sweet and innocuous... until you start to pay attention to the words. ;)

Now she's being punished too? Oh fuck that.

Well, I'm guessing this is about her feeling so empty in resuming the role of Miss Independent:

When Miss independent walked away
No time for love that came her way
She looked in the mirror and thought today
What happened to Miss no longer afraid
It took some time for her to see

But this is a little confusing, I agree:

How beautiful love could truly be
No more talk of why can’t that be me
I’m so glad I finally see

I think she's saying that she's found out how wonderful it is to be in love and she's realised she has wanted/missed love all along. So yeah, she was punished for her independent ways.

Yeah, okay. Excuse me while I vomit.

Are you sure? Cause you were really too kind to help me out. I couldn't possibly keep the bucket.
