So, if any of you all have watched all of Cowboy Bebop (::laughs maniacally for
kimberly_a, who just found the show::), you'll know that the last thing seen are the words
YOU'RE GONNA CARRY THAT WEIGHT
...in bottom corner of the screen.
Now, I didn't understand this for a long time. I mean, I literally understood the technical meaning of the statement, but I didn't grasp the full significance.
Well, not until my parents insisted on listening to the Abbey Road album by the Beatles, yet again, on the boat-- I swear every time we go on the boat it's always the same two CDs: the Micheal Soundtrack and Abbey Road.
Anyway, but what should I hear on this CD other than a song called "Carry That Weight", and the endless repetition of the John, Paul, George, & Ringo harmonizing over and over again You're gonna carry that weight, carry that weight, a long time.
Suddenly, it all made sense! I *got* it! I felt in-the-know, and was disgustingly delighted in the way that only someone whose regular hobby is fandom gushing can truly understand.
My parents didn't understand, of course. But I did! And listening to that song, it does fit with the end. Perfectly.
