timepiececlockHow cool is this?! Fushigi Yuugi is on the International Channel right now! In English!
I still want to buy the DVD set for season 2 for that show. I have all of season 1 on VHS. Though it seems the run on the IC is already 3/4 into the show, so I've missed a bunch. Including episode 33. ::sob:: The terribly tragic crying episode. However, the whole group hasn't started dying yet, and that's a relief. I was surprised by how many people that show killed off. They took my favorite character, but left my second favorite. I'm still torn. I almost cried for more than one episode in season 2. FY still ranks as probably my 6th favorite anime ever. It's like... insanely addictive. Evil soap opera addictive. Anyway, back to watch the end of the eppy.... have to figure out the schedule!
Hm... they jsut showed a bit of the Kesuke & Tetsuya storyline, back in the real world. I really loved how in the 2nd season they paralleled the real world so much, instead of just keeping in the book with the girls. Yuu Watase (original writer of the manga) really did a fabulous job interweaving the illusory dimension of the book with the real world, all the way up to the climactic battle at the end of series. And the sub-plot with the former preistesses was well-done.
Too bad Miaka still gets with Tamahome in the end. He's too perfect for her; he's the unreal perfect guy. She'd be better suited to Tasuki, I still say. Tasuki, for all you non-FY people still reading, is the Spike of this show. Except, without the totally evil past-- well, he robbed people and wa the leader of a band of highway men. Not quite sucking their blood and damning their souls, but just take me at my word here. You know what else is really funky about this show? Everyone falls in love with Miaka, the heroine. Seriously. We can make a list: Tamahome, Hotohori, Nuriko, Tasuki. And that's just the good guys-- even bad (sometimes) guy Amiboshi falls for her a little. Freaky. And somewhat fatal. Though Amiboshi is way nicer than his twin brother Suboshi, who's ba----aaaaaaaad.
