Just wanted to rec someting to you all.
The fic 'Normal Again' by Richard Bachman [http://www.fanfiction.net/read.php?storyid=784245]
It's an alternate version of the episode, only this time Spike gets the unclean needle of demon poison. It's a wicked fic, that starts out weird and goes to very dark.
I love it. His crazy drug-induced Asylum!Spike is PERFECT. Exactly like what you'd imagine he'd be like in that situation. There's hopeful hints of B/S (cause its Spike's POV most of the time) and references (sometimes more overt than others) to abusive slash. The gradual changes in Spike's personality and the fracturing of his mental state over the course of the fic are damn cool. And sad. And the Asylum-verse!Buffy is perfectly in character too, both the kinder person we know she has the potnentila to be, and yet still the same in many ways. And the other version of Angel/Liam... can't explain it.
Anyway, I liked it a lot. I read it all in one sitting tonight, after someone recced it on CW. It's still a WIP, but very close to the end--probably less than three chapters left, at a max.
