I have two new male interests, both in Bio. One I seduced into becoming my lab partner,-- well, ok, I asked him if he had a partner and would he like to be mine, and he said ok, and there wasn't actually much sexiness involved, which is too bad because he's unbelievably hot, but you get the point. We'll call him F. F is from Maryland, has the faintest faintest trace of an accent, stands about 2-3 inches taller than me (5'7"), lean physique with nice shoulders and oh F he's so fine, he's so fine he blows my mind!, and he wants to be a geneticist. He's 19. The bad is that although we chatted a bit and complained about the stupidity of our first lesson with the microscopes, there was little sparkage at his part. He rarely looked at me unless we were actually talking, and then it was very class-mate-y talk, not flirty talk. Also, his wanting to be a geneticist means he shouldn't be taking the survey course for biology, but rather the other courses for biological or science majors. He's probably going to leave this class soon.

The second male of interest, S, is a lot different in looks. He's huge, like 6'1" or 6'2" or something, with broad shoulders--- a Riley!type, from the Buffyfan perspective, which is not the body-type I usually prefer on guys. However, he's got a very cute face (cuter than Riley), and muscles to fit his body size, and his name is Russian. He has a California-raised accent and is 19about my age, but a Russian name. Which is cool. Also, we had instant conversation chatting. Specifically, about books. He liked Lord of the Rings, and when I asked him if he liked the movies, he said "Fuck yeah!" And we mutually gushed for a few minutes. It's so cool when you meet fellow fans who are also hot guys. We carried our conversation out of the lab, and I walked with him a ways in the opposite direct of my car, without pause. We were getting into the kind of rapid-fire conversation people get, where they sometimes interrupt each other because they're excited and want to say their opinion, even when they agree. It was fun. We talked about writing (he's an English major and wants to write) and politics. However, I knew it couldn't be perfect. The bomb had to drop, just like Mr.-I-Look-So-Fine-who-wants-to-be-a-geneticist-in-a-higher-level-class. What did Mr. Russian-name-Tolkein-fan-with-the-tight-shirt do wrong?

He pulled out a cigarette. My attraction level plummeted, and I wondered how he could have a chest that muscled for too many years in the future if he kept smoking. But our conversation was still running fun and I enjoyed it for a few minutes more. I think I might have to cross him off though. I won't go out with a smoker, and I'm sure he would not appreciate my reforming him, so he'll have to be my lab-conversation-buddy instead. That will be fun too.

Maybe it's because I smoke too.

That doesn't sound like a weird reason to me. I think if I smoked I wouldn't have any compunction dating other smokers. What I don't get is that my mom married my dad while he was still a smoker, and she never was. I guess that's love for you.
