savaa. Daaaaaaamn, I *NEVER* get tired of that image!
I still think that the burning hands was the most romantic and intimate visual that that we saw on the whole series. All words, situations, arguments for OR against the pairing put aside, the image of their two hands burning with the mystical power of their emotions is just... ::shivers:: It's insurpassable. It's so effing romantic (that's the best word, in the epic way, not the superficial way) that I still get surprised that they put it in there. I wanted, but I didn't expect to get something so wonderful for Buffy & Spike.
Season 5 of Angel might give me times to be bitter at the potentional loss of my pairing, but a little corner of my fan soul will always be in a state of bliss because that was the most romantic, most intimate moment in the whole 7 years of Buffy's relationships with men, the big special ship thing, and Buffy and Spike got it.
I'm such a fangirl. Every once in a while I still get this desire to jump up and down and shout "We got it! We got it! Go Buffy&Spike!!! WHEEEEEEE!!"
So that's what this post is for.

Date: 2003-10-18 10:59 pm (UTC)I know! It still kinda surprises me. Because I've spent so much time saying "Buffy and Spike are IT, for all these literary/mature/unarguable reasons and everything here and here points to it, face up and realize this is the real, real thing for both of them... and yet, my paranoid side always feared that in the end madness would win out and Buffy would declare her eternal love and fidelity to Angel or something. Because Spike (and to some degree, Spuffy shippers as a result) has always unfairly been shorted out of EVERYTHING, love most of all. So I still get a fluffy sappy romantic buzz when I realize that we weren't shorted, that we GOT the best, that our ship effectively won out. ::gets weepy for Spike finally getting the best of something, instead of the lesser half:: ::gets weepy for Buffy for finally having the kind of love she could never hold onto with others::

Date: 2003-10-18 11:06 pm (UTC)Yes!! As I just edited to post, we got it indeed.
"the big special ship thing."
In scope, B/A *is* child's play. B/A almost ended the world. B/S saved the world. Which is more important in Buffyverse?
::blinks::
Hey, I could icon that.
