Yep, you're definitely right, because 'veni' means 'came' and 'vidi' means to see. I'm no Latin scholar, but I am of Italian descent, so you can be fairly sure that you're right :)

vini, vidi, vinci
I think you need an "n" there, becuase it is there in italian (vincere) and spanish (vencer).

Nope, pretty sure it's vici, and Google backs me up.

You can remember the order with words that have those roots... like I bet "convene" comes from the Latin words for come together. Vide gives us words like video. Not sure if vici leads to victory, but it works as a mneumonic. :)

I am sure of the order, I wasn't sure that 'vici' was right, but I never study latin (I speak spanish as a first language, and I speak italian since I was 4, and the words have the same roots in the three languages)

That's a good theory. Thanks for the info, btw.

What does mneumonic mean? I've never bothered to look it up.

If you're looking for Caesar's famous quote it's veni vidi vici (I came, I saw, I conquered). Of course, rude persons of this world have been playing havoc with the order of this sentence since, ah, I'd estimate about 5 seconds after he uttered it. 'Cos, y'know, irrisistible.

Cheers
Ann

yep, that's the one. I have an icon idea, and I thought best to clarify before making a fool of myself with a post.
