Just turned on my TV to catch the final minutes of Showtime rerunning on FX. I loved that episode. Especially the end. They could have cut of the series right there at the scene of Buffy and Spike walking through the cave. It was a beautiful scene. Though I did like the actual end of the show too, bunches.

I watched the Previouslies for Potential, and got an Ah-Ha! moment. The track of Buffy's speechifying voice saying "We'll be the ones left standing," plays over the scene of her cutting Spike's restraints with that wicked knife. Which is actually completely heartbreaking.

Also? Spike's pretty hot in the opening teaser sequence.

You *so* do not want to get me started on the validity of actor commentary. Seriously, it's crap, even from JM. There's been things that the BTVS actors say in one interview that gets completely contradicted 10 episodes later. I used to pay attention to that kind of thing, but now I don't bother, and I don't give it credence.

The same thing goes for JKR interviews for Potter!verse. People on FA are always quoting her, but I just want to say "How do you know she's not lying or misdirecting? Don't you think that everything she says is tailored to give a certain image or to sell the books?" There's so many reasons, that I just don't pay attention to anything except canon, in books or TV.

Anyway, that rant over.

That's cool. But no Spred on my journal except any icons you bring by default when you comment. Because seriously, I loathe Spred. Well, actually, I didn't have an opinion either way before season 5, but I think it'd be so out of character for Spike at this point that the idea just makes me cringe. Which I sometimes talk about in my AtS episode reviews. And Fred's so tweaked by the diea of Nox right now that she's got no interest. However, I do think friendship between Spike and Fred is a good thing, and it *is* in character that Spike would confide in the woman of the group before the others.

So, um, yeah. Err...That ends that conversation. Please don't talk about Spread (in the romantic sense) in my journal, but of course feel free to talk about just about ANYTHING else! :) especially H/L. Always need more of that. You can

Psshhaa. ::waves hand:: Takes more than that to offend me. I'm just trying to figure out a way to diplomatically but firmly say that I don't want to talk about Spread ever, and yet not drive you completely away from my journal (stay!stay!) with my scaryness.

None of my friends watch Angel, so it's alll very annoying.

Oh, I can talk about Angel. Well, as soon as I watch my recording from last night. And I love to analyze stuff. But the only Spike ships that I like to discuss are Spike/Buffy, Spike/Dru, and, within context, Spike/Angel and Spike/Anya. And Spike/Harmony too, because that cracks my shit up, and anyway who can possibly hate Harmony? If you get in a conversation with someone _else_ on my comment page about Spred, or Spander (a lot of my LJ friends like Spander) , or Spillow or something, that's fine and I won't interrupt you. Heck, that increases my entry/comment ratio, which makes me look semi-cool. ::laugh:: Just wanna clear with you now though so that we don't end up having a ship argument every time I review an Angel ep. :) <<-- that smile is supposed to tell you that I'm not offended, see? :)

Except, of course, when I occasionally make a post that invites such discussion. Because I'm contrary like that.

I did! Most of it was jargon to me, and I didn't buy into his whole theory that the books are popular because there's some kind of collective subconscious knowledge about alchemic symbols, but I can believe that JKR is incorporating a lot of Christian stuff into it, probably several multi-layered allusions and themes that I'm not even aware of since I've been ignoring my father's religion since practically birth. I don't think that Harry always behaves in a very Christian manner since he's never displayed a terrible lot of sensitivity to the people he's not personally connected to or invested in (sometimes even less sensitivity than you'd expect from a decent person), and the whole "good samartian" concept (one of the biblical things which I did pick up knowledge of as part of general western culture) seems to escape him most days.

But, I do like anything that suggests H/L from a nuetral perspective. And judging by the depth of analysis this guy took (I read almost the whole essay, because I didn't know anything about the subject), he's probably not approaching the books from a fanfic-writing, popcorn munching perspective. So I revel in the fact that even a person with no bias agress with us!

::grin:: Of course! In fact, I can't recall having met that many Spuffy fans who *don't* like Spike/Dru as well, even if for some it's only with flashbacks. Since Spike/Buffy is pretty much a result of Spike/Dru, how can we *not* love it? Plus, there was Evil!Spike. Evil!Spike is always hot too.

And plus, loony people are fun to ship. ;)
