timepiececlockAnd I think it was a shame they had to cut many of these scenes, especially since some of them, like Gandalf's conversation with Aragorn, help to clarify in an overarching sense where the story is at that point, and why they are going to Rohan.
The cutting of some of the scenes, especially the funeral and the end of the Sam-Frodo-Gollum cooking lunch, changes how the audience persceives the passing of time in the story.
Of all of the extra scenes so far, I think I would most have liked for the Aragorn/Eowyn stable scene to have been included. It adds a whole new dimension to the next A/E scene, where she has the sword, and elaborates on that subplot.
Now, on to disc two!
