Got 3 new Cowboy Bebop icons thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kenzier... who just introduced herself to me on LJ as a fellow lover of Spike/Buffy, Vach/Meryl, and Faye/Spike. So I investigated said journal, and while she has less than 5 entries up, one is a huge post with about 100 icons of above said pairings, and another is the wallpaper currently on my comp. And this icon ::points up and to the left:: just amused me.

So, welcome to LJ [livejournal.com profile] kenzier. And go watch this Bebop vid, because it's crazy frelling awesome and I have to rec it to people.

Just read Ch 32. Thanks for letting me know it was up. I loved, loved the part where Faye says that Spike doesn't get to give her permission to treat him like shit. That he didn't allow her the same courtesy when he treated her like shit. That was so...dead-on. Go Faye.

The theme in this fic seems to be that every one of the main characters is so beaten down by the fact that everyone in their lives keeps leaving. Each of the characters keeps denying that they care, even though they really, really do. And their greatest fear is that the people in their lives will leave again. I keep thinking of Jet, and how he keeps trying to keep the family together, even while denying that he cares, but they all keep making a mess of everything. And then there's Ed trying to keep the family together in her own way. Faye denies she needs this family (not just Spike), even though she keeps returning. And Spike...well, Spike keeps fighting any semblance of family, as does Ezekiel (although Ez apparently only has Faye). It's really heartbreaking.

And yet, he keeps letting it slip through his fingers and you are on the edge of your seat going "Oh here's your chance, come on, say that you care! Don't fuck it up this time this is what you really want you just don't quite realize it!"

It's really heartbreaking.

Yeah, it is. And how about the fact that Faye assualted Spike, instead of the other way around? After I read this chapter I had to go back and read the last few in light of this new information. It was heartbreakingly awful, and now we're down to where it really seems like these two have done absolutely everything they possibly can to each other, and there's nothing left to do but help each other heal. Hopefully. If things go well. This could still legitimately be a tragedy. ::bites lip::

Yeah, it's so agonizing to watch him keep fucking up. I keep thinking "come on Spike, don't be an ass this time!" ::g::

I'm kind of confused, though, I have to admit. Does this mean that Faye wasn't raped at all? That the semen found on her when she came to was from her coming after Spike? Maybe I'm confused bc I left too big a gap of time before reading this chapter after reading the previous.

It was the other way around. Though it's not technically rape (no penetration), she basically assalted him, jacking him off when he kept telling her no. And he let her because he didn't want to hurt her again and at this point he showed up to put himself at her mercy anyway and beg forgiveness, so he let her take her anger out on him even though he didn't want it. The semen was because he came in her hands, and it hit her clothes I guess. The torn clothes was from Faye's own actions and their rather physical (though essentially non-violent) argument.

So, nope. He didn't. She did. I had to go back and reread the chapter before it that takes place in the hospital and police station, to confirm the situation given the content of the flashback. It seemed they had already both forgiven each other by the end there. But because of the situation, the secretive nature of their complicated relationship, and people's gender percetions, everyone made assumptions about the aftermath and they tossed Spike in the slammer.
