popularity contests suck.
popularity contests started by nice people with good intentions suck even more, because if you complain that it's a popularity contest and thus sucks, you get frowned on and assumed to be bitter that you haven't been picked yet and your obvious attack of such a nice person's pure intentions means you clearly don't deserve to be anyway.
in conclusion?
popularity contests suck.

Oh, honey. I know. It was a lovely idea, but it's still a popularity contest, and those are guaranteed to give me wicked junior high school flashbacks. I read about four pages, felt myself regressing, and stopped reading. Now I can just be aware that on an LJ entry somewhere, nice people with good intentions are creating positive energy, and that's a good thing but I don't gotta look.

I for one am very, very, very glad I Friended you.

I got through five pages and felt the regression.

I'm kind of amused though, that you know what I'm talking about. I mean, I could have been talking about something from school or work. Aah... the pervasiveness of thought on LJ. It's a marvel.
