Kenshin

Watched an episode of Ruroni Kenshin on Cartoon Network. I'm surprised: It was interesting-- much more so than the only other one I watched, which was very stupid and turned me off of the series. Now I might be interested enough to watch more. However, I'm wondering if Kenshin says "I vow not to kill again" every single episode, or just once a week. Is it like a regular speech of his, cause it kinda sounds like one.

I watched a few episodes a while back, and I don't remember him saying that at all (though it is, of course, the basic idea of the whole story). But I must admit that after only 3 or 4 episodes, I lost interest. Your mileage may vary.

I'm thinking I might try and watch Samurai X, the OAV prequel, before I watch too much more of this, because that's supposed to be very good (and bloody, which I'm not big on, but can handle.)

Looking at it, it's reminding me of both Inu Yasha and Yu Yu Hakashu. I didn't like YYH much at all, even after about 12 episodes endured, and I like IY but I get tired of it if I watch too much in a row. I can imagine getting bored of this series. Nevertheless, this episode was alright, so I think I'm going to give it another chance.

I've heard so many people rave about it though-- it's nice to hear that someone else has had trouble getting into it as well.

Waa, Kenshin's plaing in the US, no fair.
I've seen nearly all episodes of Kenshin, up to 90 or something, I'm still missing about 10... and I really did enjoy it. Great to watch in a roomful of friends. There are some eps, sorta like intermezzo's between the longer, serious storylines, that tend to be comedic, a little silly at times. I suppose you have first caught one of those.

And I do recall Kenshin saying 'I vow not to kill ever again' very often. *grins* I'd say he says it once every week. *lol*

The first one I watche dhad him fighting the guy with the giant spatula sword, but refusing to fight in front of little kids, or because of little kids, or something. I jsut noticed that the dialgoue was so silly and it all seemed so stagey and Sailor Moonish to me. Which I liked once upon a time, but not so much anymore. In the ep I just watched tonight, that same big sword guy is a travelling companion, and they meet some little rich kid whose land gets taken over by a group of ambitious ex-soldiers who want to build thier own country.

Oh yeah, the rich little kid. I forgot his name already, and I don't have that storyline very well in memory. It wasn't my favorite one... I think one of my favorites comes right after that one...

Nah, he doesn't say it every ep. Just the early ones where it's trying to get ingrained in your mind for the later arcs. Especially the Kyoto arc when he struggles with the Manslayer inside him. I'm pretty sure Cartoon Network has up until halfway through the Kyoto arc, so give it a shot. After the Kyoto arc, however, go read the manga.
