brightening your video player

timepiececlockI'm about a third of the way the through Smile Time on my computer and I'm suddenly reminded of why I hate to watch Angel on my computer.
It's dark as hell, even with the brightness buttons up full.
Is there some way to brighten what I'm seeing? I have Real Player and Windows Media.
