Wow. It seems like so much when you just list it like that. And yet, I don't feel like I've seen near enough. I crave more.
I'd say for about half of these that are television shows I've seen the entire series. The rest I might have seen only 1 or2 episodes (like Kenshin, Yu-gi-oh), half a season (like Scryed), or 3/4 of all that's out (Inu Yasha, DBZ). If it's a movie up there, I've seen the entire thing. Like X/1999 or Esca, unfortunately. Or Perfect Blue and Spirited Away, happily.

Date: 2004-05-16 12:57 am (UTC)Jim's the best character. I became insanely obsessed with him.
OH MY GOD! That's it! That's the person who's the voice of that annoying as hell Toboe on Wolf's Rain!!
::grabs donna for dance of victory:: I knew I'd remember it eventually!
I'm good for somethin'! :D
However, I didn't like Gene at all.
Oh, I hate him. Nine times out of ten, I dislike the "lead" character in a series, but I outright hated him. He had about zilch in the Redeeming Qualities Department. I always wondered how in the hell the creators of this series thought he made a hero (anti-hero, whatever) that we'd get behind. Blah.
I didn't care about Melfina and I hated the cat girl.
Melfina's story was interesting when she played off of Harry MacDougal (the gay green haired guy), otherwise, I was neutral about her. I loathed Aisha (the cat girl) until the last two episodes. She grew up and stopped bitching and whining. Too bad she didn't do that shit 21 episodes earlier. The one you accidentally called the android was "Hot Ice" Hilda, who was very cool, and yes, it blew goats when she died. Asses.
I thought many of the plot stuff was stupid-- the whole "everyone's an Outlaw with capital O and yet it doesn't actually mean anything because they never get arrested and they have actual jobs" really irritated me for some reason.
The layout of the series reminded me a lot of Firefly. I could write a thesis on the similarities between theme and character for both shows.
However, I do remember Outlaw Star fondly in one respect: the ice-cream selling psychic cactus episode.
I had to think for a minute on that one. "Ice cream sell - OH!" Yeah, that was pretty friggin' funny. :)

Date: 2004-05-16 01:09 am (UTC)I've thought about that. However, I think ultimately Cowboy Bebop and Firefly had a lot more in common. I swear you could write a story where Spike and Mal meet and it would barely even qualify as a crossover.
