Well, I updated with about half a dozen new icons, several of my own new Nauruto icons (my default icon included), and various other anime icons from [livejournal.com profile] donna_c_punk, [livejournal.com profile] byakugan, and [livejournal.com profile] sidewalksg. I also borught back two of my own favorites from before-- my "Faye Valentine, who used to be rich last Sunday" icon, and this Mulder/Scully birds icon you see used here.

I wish I were the maker of the Shikamaru icon, but that would be [livejournal.com profile] dra_iconis. And [livejournal.com profile] byakugan made me two more Naruto icons. She feeds my Icon Whore Monster. This is one of'em.

Give Gaara a hug. Have you hugged him today?

there are frequent layoffs, though some I've kept for a long time. To tell the truth, 50 just isn't enough.

But I told you I was stealing that icon. and you lead me to believe it was you!

Granted... I never checked... um... nevermind then!

I have indeed hugged Gaara today. I hugged him this morning!

You got that right. I have a permanent account and I deserve 100 icons. One for each dollar I paid for this thing.

hey... that reminds me... do you have any ship preferences for the younger set? (Kabuto counts as an adult since he is alway eyefucking Kakashi!)

I don't really think about ships when I'm watching the show itself, but when I do upon reflection later, I'm pretty much a Naruto/Sakura shipper.

As you can probably tell by the icon, I lean towards Sasuke/Sakura. I love the idea of Naruto/Hinata. I know you don't like Hinata much, but I'd love to see it.

It's not that I actively dislike her, just that I don't care about her at all the way I care about the other characters. She could disappear off the show and I wouldn't miss her. But I do think it's good that Naruto thinks of her as a friend now, because they both need friends.

I might like Sasuke/Sakura if Sasuke didn't annoy me so much. Though I've come to care about his chibi-form (kawaii!!), there's still a lot of times when pre-adolescent!Sasuke bugs the crap out of me, and I think it's pretty obvious that Sasuke doesn't care about Sakura the way she wants him too, though he does care. I don't think Sasuke's even capable of romantic feelings for anyone at this point. He's too busy with his vendetta and getting limbs broken.

I think my preference for Sakura/Naruto comes from the fact that I'm really predictable in that I frequently latch onto the first romantic pairing presented in a series, which for Naruto was the S/S/N triangle. And because Naruto is my favorite character... at the moment Naruto wants Sakura, so I want Naruto to get Sakura.

I think Sasuke/Sakura or Naruto/Sakura could both work, but it really depends on Sakura herself, and in what way she matures. I've always been struck by the fact that Inner!Sakura resembles Naruto so much, and annoyed by the fact that Sakura represses that side of herself and tries to change herself to present a front she thinks Sasuke will like. That spells out disaster to me for Sasuke/Sakura in the future. However, if Sakura were ever to grow up and to stop hiding in a shell and to become more confident in herself and that people will accept her if she shows how she really feels... and if Sasuke was then attracted to that complete version of Sakura... then that would be good. But that seems way to far away with too many what-ifs in my mind. Whereas in the mean time Sakura might realize that other people exist beyond Sasuke.

But then, that's just idle speculation, because the show really isn't about ships anyway. I doubt we'll see any real resolution on that front before the end.

Which is all the more reason I find myself rooting for SasuSaku. At first, I believe Sakura was into him because he was "popular", mysterious and cute boy. Now she knows him. I loved the way she countered Ino during their Chuunin Exam one on one - "you don't fit together". He needs somebody to make him realize that there's more to life than his vengeance. Let's say he does kill his brother - what's left? He has no purpose in life after that. She seems to have the dedication within her to make him realize that people outside of his family have the capacity to care. Even if they're never a romantically linked couple, Sasuke and Sakura could have a very strong bond as friends.

She may've stepped out from behind Ino, but, yeah, she still rather hides her true self. I hope they develop her character more as the anime/manga continue. She has potential to be a great force in both Naruto's and Sasuke's lives.

Probably not. Not one anime that I've watch, really, has successfully resolved any relationship.

Sailor Moon!

and... Fushigi Yuugi. And Dragonball Z. And Trigun, in terms of Wolfwood/Milly, who experienced the full development and resolution of a romantic relationship...until he had to go and eat that damned green apple.

Never watched the first one. I can't stand Dragonball. I'm not so big on Wolfwood/Milly as I am with Vash/Meryl, but yeah, I'd forgotten about them.

wow. you've never seen Sailor Moon... well, in most ways you're lucky, because it's not very well made or very intelligent, and it gets really repetitive... you'd probably not really enjoy it beyond the first season, if even that, if you watched it now after having seen much better anime first. But at the same time I have great nostalgic fondness for it as my first anime, back in 7th grade.

I'm an ex-DBZ person. For a while i hated it and tried to ignore the fact that I had ever liked it... now I'm apathetic on the whole subject. I've marked it down to learning.

I'm not really a big Wolfwood/Milly person either... in terms of fandom anyway. Though I loved seeing it happen on the series, I have no desire to read or write fic about it. And Wolfwood was my favorite character... I think it's because I regard the whole thing as finished and complete beyond all doubt. They had their one night, and he's gone, and that's tragic but that's life. Milly is obviously the endurable kind who will move on to have other great loves.

But that begs the question of why I love reading fic where Spike, whose story was just as finished and completed thematically as Wolfwood's was, comes back to life like someone hexed him to only ever have comas and never die in fic?
