I totally splurged on anime today. Cursed Barnes & Noble stores!

I bought the first manga volume of FLCL.

Then... I ordered 3 DVDs with the buy 2, get 1 free, sale:

Fruits Basket 1

Fruits Basket 2

Escalfowne 8

::big smile:: This means that when [livejournal.com profile] octopedingenue sends me the videos of the latter episodes of FB, I'll have the whole thing in BOTH Japanese and English. Happy happy, joy joy!

And plus I got the last DVD of Esca, which I've been putting off buying for like 2 years now even though I've seen it already.

Damn though, anime is pricey. Thank god I have a job.

This splurge I feel is a reward for almost being done with school. Finals are this week!

EDIT: Damn, I just bought the 4th Furuba DVD, on sale. ANIME IS EVIL AND STEALS YOUR MONEY!

Fuuuuuuuuuuuuck!

I just set up the VCR & DVD players (literally about 3 minutes ago) to record disc #3 of FB for you while I was asleep tonight, and it didn't work! None of the discs do! They're now all showing the "Lock" display that means the video is scramble-encoded to prevent copying. I'm totally gobsmacked; I know that I specifically tested the last 2 discs (on the same DVD player I'm using now!) when I got them from Target to see if they were copyright-locked, and I could have sworn that they weren't--that's why I felt so disappointed when I tested the first 2 discs that I got online and they WERE locked!

I feel so bad. I'll be more than happy to lend you my last 2 discs if you want; Ayame's dub voice especially has got to be heard to be believed. If you want to buy the discs yourself, the cheapest I've found them at a mainstream retailer is at DeepDiscountDVD, which is having a sale this week: Between 06/18/04-06/25/04, enter the coupon code DEEPDISCOUNT in the promotion code box when you check out and you should receive a 20% discount. Or there's this, if Cookie Jar Video is legit. And I'd still love to send you Chance, if you want it--I could throw in Simply Irresistable for my pet twosome of Bad Bad Romantic Comedies That We Love 'Cause They've Got Pretty "Buffy" Actors.

I'm very sorry; I don't know how I could have made such a silly mistake! (I think someone snuck in and messed with my DVD player when I wasn't paying attention. *GLOWERS*) I really wanted to pay you back for sending me all the wonderful songs and videos and "Fruits Basket" eps that kept me alive until I could get the DVDs. I still do want to pay you back, and I will somehow!

(And I AM going to write up that long response to you about the Naruto manga...I am sloooow going through my backlog of LJ replies...)

Are they copy-able from a DVD writer? Because then I could copy them with my Dad's DVD writer.

I would love it if you could loan them to me. I could try to copy them on my dad's writer, and even then if they don't, I could still watch them. That would be really awesome... and I want you to know that I appreciate the amount of trust involved in loaning out DVDs to someone you've never even met in real life. :) I'm good for it, promise.

::laugh:: Sure.

::hugs you::

It's okay. I think you must be right... it's the same little devils that are always stealing my watches so I can never find one when I want one. They're nasty little things that muck up your stuff.

I've ordered with DeepDiscount many times over the past year and never had any problem with them. The shipping can be slow--usually takes at least a week--but the customer serivce peeps are helpful and the DVDs are ridiculously cheap. (Dude, I think some of the DVDs fall of a truck or somethin'...) Because of their low prices, they very rarely have sales; I plan to spend too much money that I don't really have this week...

Well, that's encouraging.

Especially since I just caved and bought FB vol.4 DVD. -_-()

I'm such a sucker. With that nice discount it was down to $17.27.

So you just need to lend me the third one I guess. :laugh:
