I saw that about a month or two ago. I dunno. I'm more apprehensive about it than anything. Sci-Fi Channel has the ability to fuck up even the simplest of series - Battlestar Galactica, anyone? I'm in a wait and see mode. Wait and see how bad they fuck it up.

Yeah, but the original battlestar was pretty bad according to my parents (I never watched it), and I didn't think much of the remake, so that was pretty much a wash for me.

SciFi does great and it does terrible. Good shows like Stargate, great shows like Farscape... the SciFi channel has put out some quality stuff. On the other hand, their original movies are typically terrible, and there have been several series I have never gotten into. The thing is that the network doesn't make them, a production company makes the shows, and the scifi channel has the rights to air them. So if the production company/group is a good one... there may be hope indeed. :)

Well, Battlestar Galactica came along right around the time of the first Star Wars. It was the late 70s/early 80s, not exactly the best time to have a sci-fi show on network TV. It was cool for what it was, I thought it was great. Then again, I'm the one girl in the universe who can wax philosophical for hours on end about the original Lost In Space.

I just wonder about what they'll change. I'm sure if they're going to stick with Robin/Amon (which I personally wasn't into), Robin's age will be upped, to at least 17 or 18. I don't see American audiences readily accepting a 15 year old with an early twenty-something. Then again, that's just my opinion, I could be wrong. :D

I would imagine her aged up a bit too... probably the other characters that you thought were adult until you read online that they weren't (like Karasuma, who I first thought was in her late 20s but apparently is only 19) will be aged as well.

I can see how SciFi could and may mess it up. BUT I've always thought that WHR would work really well as a live-action series (and that it needs continuation--cannot leave me hanging with that ending! eeeep!). They'll probably move the setting of the series to the US, which could mesh with the character's sensibilities--Robin's going to be fish-out-of-water girl no matter where they are, and heck, Doujima's only one brunette dye job away from being Cordelia Chase.

And OMG LIVE-ACTION MICHAEL. EEEP. *flails* I think I have a thing for pretty, snarky, orange-haired boys in tight tight black shirts.

You're absolutely right. Except for the fact that more than a little of the Cordelianess is cover for her espionage.

It would. Probably because it draws from a lot of familiar themes in sci-fi and has a very Xfiles look. Actually, that's something they might want to move a little bit away from or they'll risk looking like every other XF wannabe show on the SciFi network.

Yeah on the moving away from "The X-Files" look...I also hope they'll keep in the themes of the deep mythology surrounding witches and the strong links to Catholicism. I'm very hopeful about the series at this point, though.

It's amazing how much that one series changed science fiction on television. And in film, too, if you think about shows like The Matrix.
