Oh my god. Full Metal Alchemist is doing a BTVS!Superstar or Storyteller-like episode! And it's all about Roy Mustang and his underlings!
::falls yet again in love with this show::
EDIT: OH My God! I love this show! I love this show! This might in fact be the very best anime I have seen. It's better than Cowboy Bebop and Trigun and Naruto and FLCL and Fruits Basket and, if it has a good ending... well if it has a good ending, it will even rise above Escaflowne in my mind.
::does happy dance::
And how can I even talk about how much I love the characters? The military characters, Ed and Al, the Ishbal people, the Homunculous, the millions of side characters each well-developed beyond my greatest expectations...
I love this show so much.
Go Mustang! Go Sciezska! Did Armstrong just wink at him at the end? I think he did. He winked at him. OOooh.... this Archer person doesn't know what kind of force he's up against here. Roy has a plan, and his people's loyalty and his loyalty to that plan were cemented by Hughes's death... oh this is going to be wicked. I'm so excited.
Plus, how cool was that "Flame Alchemist" mock title at the beginning? ::snicker::
Aside from that, I want to hug Winry. How to make her understand that Mustang looks at killing her parents as one of the worst things he ever did, and that he almost commited suicide afterward? How to tell her that he was young and stupid and afraid like kids in a war are and he didn't know how to not follow orders? How make her see beyond the confident ambitious popular front he presents to the horrible shame he feels inside at his actions?
She can't see that, because she's young too. And she can't see (yet) that Ed is on his way to becoming exactly like Roy, and is over half-way there already.

Date: 2004-08-16 10:12 pm (UTC)But ultimately, it all depends on how the last episodes go down. If this show ends as well as the rest of it is, I will be happy beyond happy. If this show goes the way of Evagelion's last two episodes... well, you may never be able to fully gather all the pieces of my shattered soul, let's put it that way.

Date: 2004-08-17 01:19 am (UTC)And about the Evagelion ending, I heard that it was really disappointing... Even though I haven't seen it, it reminds me of how disappointing Hellsing's ending was. After watching it, I basically asked myself two questions:
1) "Wtf?"
and 2) "...Why do I even care?"
The ending was so blah... Feh... I hate endings like that.

I reccomend Eva to people. And my recs typically go like such:
"Dude, Eva is good. It is dark, it is ambitious, it is complex and layered and stuffed full of symbolism. It is morbid yet fascinating. And frequently disturbing bordering on freaky. The only you need to know is that you cannot watch the last two episodes. If you do, you will have a screaming fit and demand why it was that nobody gave you a warning. So here it is: Watch Eva. Get sucked into the twisted complexity of Eva. And then stop before the last two episodes, and just assume the world ends and everyone dies. It's easier that way."

Date: 2004-08-17 02:09 am (UTC)Around the bold part is when I started laughing. Maybe it was because I've heard something a lot like that. Maybe it's because it's 5 in the morning, and I'm wondering what we're still doing awake (I'm reading fanfiction, what's your excuse? >PPPPP) Or maybe because it was just funny.
Nonetheless, since you recommend it, I'll look into it. Now I just have to find people with connections... And for some reason, I have the feeling that I'll be able to pull it off.

Date: 2004-08-17 02:23 am (UTC)Oh, and try to get the subs. The dubbed is horrendous. Shinji sounds so wrong, and... well, Shinji's dad has this really scary and intimidating Japanese voice, but his English voice is like your 6th grade English teacher or something. I was all "WTF man?"

Date: 2004-08-17 11:24 am (UTC)Yet I have no problem knowing that I have a bunch of Beta tapes in my house. I need to get off my computer more, lol.
But I'll see if it's at my library. If not, then I'll simply demand it.
